Bring on the haters! Bring on the haters!

Coachella is the best festival. Period.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:07 AM

Give it away, give it away, give it away, now!

Posted by Flea | January 25, 2013 12:08 AM

What can I say? My solo record flopped, and I've got a mortgage, you know.

Posted by Ben Gibbard | January 25, 2013 12:08 AM

I'm like Herpes!

Posted by Moby | January 25, 2013 12:09 AM

Why does the Sunday lineup lack a ska band?!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:10 AM

How are Stone Roses on top of Blur???

RHCP??

I need to book this festival!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:10 AM

No RFTC, which is a relief.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:11 AM

Sunday night's line-up brought to you by the 90's.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:11 AM

God, I must be out of the loop if Phoenix is a Coachella headliner

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:11 AM

Primavera wins

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:11 AM

Mord Fustang

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:12 AM

The Friday and Saturday headliners are unusually weak, but, top-to-bottom, it's once again a pretty good bill. Odd that Gaslight Anthem and Dinosaur Jr. aren't getting better billing on the Sunday ticket.

Posted by Manti Te'o's Girlfriend | January 25, 2013 12:13 AM

Lmao violent femmes are on the fourth line down?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:13 AM

"Bring on the haters! Bring on the haters!

Coachella is the best festival. Period"

More like bring on the morons. Like yourself.
If you live in NYC these Festivals are worthless.

The 2 biggest names here which mean anything obviously Stone Roses and Blur are both going to be playing NYC. As well as The Postal Service. Only interesting thing after that in terms of probably not also playing here is Grinderman. Thought that was done with.

Also expect Lou Reed to probably cancel. He has cancelled a number of shows and and appearances lately. Apparently he is not doing so well.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:15 AM

There's a distinct lack of "Holy Shit!" names on there, and I don't give a fuck about Postal Service, so it's a pass for me.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:16 AM

YAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:17 AM

Violent Femmes mailed it in years ago. They haven't been a good live band since the mid 90s.

Phoenix as a headliner is bullshit. This whole lineup sucks ass.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:18 AM

Ian Brown literally cannot sing anymore. Stones Roses are going to be embarrassing in that slot.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:18 AM

Should have been Mr. Bungle on Sunday instead IMO.

Posted by john frusciante | January 25, 2013 12:18 AM

Friday is good, Saturday and Sunday are shockingly weak. All you people trying to talk yourselves into it are delusional.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:19 AM

This gets me about as excited as The Bamboozle. Awful.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:21 AM

Governor's Island looks better than this crap.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:21 AM

I got four words for you fucks: Lou Reed WITH METALLICA.

\m/

Posted by Lars | January 25, 2013 12:22 AM

It's like they are trying to appeal to a younger crowd or something...

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:23 AM

Has there BEEN any music made in the last 10 years?

Posted by Bill Clinton | January 25, 2013 12:24 AM

a younger crowd?? when three of the top four bands are from the 80s?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:24 AM

wow.

how will the bloggers spin this pile of shit as the best festival ever?

Posted by metsphan | January 25, 2013 12:30 AM

govball>coach.

THEY DONT GOT KENDRICKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!! ahhahahahahhahahah

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:38 AM

It's hard out there for a pimp, fo sho niggaz

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:42 AM

The reason this festival is going downhill is because it obviously has become more about the "I'm going to Coachella" hipster cache than it is about the music.

For shit's sake, people on facebook are calling Blur "the Gorillaz singer's old band". That's who goes to Coachella now.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:46 AM

Who the fuck is Phoenix?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:49 AM

white people?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:56 AM

Governors Ball line-up was Great when 1st announced! and Now it's Even GREATER! Governors Ball is Current/Coachella has become a Reunion Fest....Zzzz

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 1:04 AM

speaking of governors ball, the third headliner is arcade fire. enter "the arcade fire" into the url next to the gov ball title, it autocorrects it to just "arcade fire", as in a page is already set up for that to redirect to, but just not accessible yet.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 1:09 AM

1:09 If that is the case they have the same three headliners from Coachella 2011, which would be a massive embarassment

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 1:15 AM

lol.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 1:17 AM

Coachalella is a decent festival with a decent menu selection of chickpea based products. I reckon it's not the best, but I generally attend and enjoy rocking out while amped up on Phyto-Nutrients. So why all the hate?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 1:19 AM

@ 1:15, I really don't see why that would be the case at all. It's two years after, and it seems as though it'd be the first festival to land Arcade Fire since their last tour, and it's a relatively new festival which has expanded to three days in a city which has been notorious for festivals which end up tanking. Especially considering everyone jizzed all over coachella that year, and it has a very good undercard.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 1:20 AM

How the mighty have fallen... Some acts that were the BEEZ KNEES years ago are in fine print now.
I mean,
-James Blake over Paul Oakenfold?
-Hot Chip over Moby?
-Beach House over Johny Marr?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 2:27 AM

Might have a few good acts here and there but holy shit what a bunch of trash overalla.

Posted by balck | January 25, 2013 3:25 AM

Arguing about Gov Ball and this mediocre Coachella lineup is like picking methods of execution, if they were offered by Urban Outfitters.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 3:28 AM

Extremely disappointed in the headliners. RHCP? The Stone Roses? Are you serious.. I wanted at least Bjork or Atoms for Peace or The Knife. There a few really good other artists but now I dont know if its worth it!!! 4 "rock" headliners? Really? Not that I have anything against rock bands, but at least have a worthy one like last year.....

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 4:29 AM

Not here to hate, but I would have appreciated a little diversity in the headliners. This whole bill seems indie-rockish. Nothing wrong with indie and rock but I would have liked to have seen a couple hip hop-ish big names, and perhaps an EDM artist headlining liiiike... I don't know, maybe DAAAFFFTTTPPPUUUUNNNKKKKK :D :D :D!!!

Posted by blahblahblah | January 25, 2013 4:46 AM

Primavera wins. I really could care less about Stone Roses or RHCP. The Phoenix day looks fun, though. I just don't like Phoenix.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 4:46 AM

Day one and two are good. Sunday is totally forgettable though.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 5:33 AM

wow. remember when BV hinted at the Rolling Stones headlining this thing? You got the wrong stone Goldenvoive. The Stone Roses/Blur co-headline? What is this? Glastonbury 200x?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 5:39 AM

New headliner will be s p i n d o c t o r s .

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 5:41 AM

Phoenix, from xmu morning host to coachella headliner! What's next, Brooklyn Vegan doing the coachella cruise?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 5:53 AM

@12:11 Primavera always wins

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 6:49 AM

Where the fuck is Bonnie Bear?

Posted by The Mighty KC | January 25, 2013 6:50 AM

Where the fuck are Happy mondays and Inspiral Carpets?

Posted by The Mighty KC | January 25, 2013 6:52 AM

There might be a chance for Daft Punk, remember in 2009 when Phoenix played in New York, Daft Punk made a special appearance!

Posted by Anon | January 25, 2013 7:12 AM

You'd be a fool to travel from the east coast for this. Stick with governor's ball and save yourself a couple hundred bucks.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 7:29 AM

Its still incomprehensible to me that the Chili Peppers have existed for this long and that people actually consider them a good band. Especially since Frusciante left.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 7:47 AM

6:50 is (jokingly?) outraged about a lack of Bon Iver, but failed to notice the Shouting Matches?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 7:58 AM

The Evens?? interesting.... cool that the make-up are playing too.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:01 AM

Primavera rapes this lineup
But out of all days, Friday wins for Coachella. Should we expect solo Blur and Stone Roses shows for the US US this year?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:06 AM

Where the fuck is Kula Shaker?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:07 AM

Blur in the USA finally! Been 10 years..Stone Roses been what 18 or so! I am happy

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:24 AM

Does Ian Mackaye know tickets to this are not $5 dollars?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:32 AM

yabbadabba, yabbadabbadabbaDOO now!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:35 AM

all of these big festivals are overhyped, overpriced and overflowing with shitty bands and people...

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:37 AM

The Stone Roses were and are an awful live band. The debut album and some EP stuff was amazing though. Being in my mid-30s, I have a lot of appreciation for older bands, but shouldn't festivals try to make some attempt to have headliners that are reaching their peak, not way way past it? Also, having the Red Hot Chili Peppers as a headliner is kind of a joke as well.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:39 AM

Coachella 2013! Where industry adulators and raised smartphones become one!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:41 AM

The only thing that sucks more than this line up is that I bought pre-sale tickets thinking they would have equal or better bands as last year. Fail. C'mon - Jeff Mangum, Mazzy Star, Bon Iver, Dre all killed it. Phoenix? Really?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:48 AM

having the chili peppers headline means people can just head home earlier after the bad seeds obliterate them.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:49 AM

GRINDERMAN????

FUCK!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:53 AM

How to destroy ticket brokers margins would've been a good name for this festival.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:54 AM

Deathfix, The Evens and The Make-Up ALL playing? That's pretty rad. Gotta say, this is a very solid lineup....

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:54 AM

Stone Roses and Blur were never popular in the US, how on earth are they headlining? And who the hell is Pheonix?

Posted by Paul | January 25, 2013 8:55 AM

Modest Mouse and Johnny Marr on the same day? Hmmmm....

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 8:55 AM

Until Husker Du reunites for an exclusive Coachella performance, I'm never going back to Coachella.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:04 AM

you can see most of these bands do a full set in NYC in a better setup, why bother with this shit?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:14 AM

people will be taking pics with their iPads

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:29 AM

agree with 9:14
will wait for their NY dates, at least for Blur

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:29 AM

Gov Ball lineup is a lot better than this one.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:34 AM

Nothing will beat the 2007 lineup!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:34 AM

Hmm. Gov Ball wins

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:41 AM

I hope OMD does a full US tour before or after this.

Also...I thought Grinderman was done??

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:41 AM

This is pretty fantastic, but I'm gonna hold out for an NYC Blur show

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:43 AM

crazy how much better the Gov Ball lineup is. I guess you can make the argument that Blur/The (Non Rolling) Stone Roses, Phoenix & RHCP is better than Kanye and KOL, but if they book even an average headliner for the third night the Gov is much stronger from top to bottom. To think Girl Talk headlined that thing just 2 years ago

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:44 AM

I think part of the problem with these festivals is the dearth of bands that deserve to headline. Think about it. Who are the current bands that deserve headliner status? Radiohead, The Rolling Stones, U2, possibly Depeche Mode, Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Daft Punk, Phish(?), Dave Matthews Band, and I'm running out of ideas.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:52 AM

Blur and jurassic 5 are the only standout bands

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:53 AM

ian mackaye has finally sold out

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 9:54 AM

there aren't many bands left that could headline a festival, at least not in this country
I tend to think European festival are more varied because they are exposed and accepting of more diverse types of music, but I might be wrong

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:00 AM

All you people saying that the Governors Ball has a better line up have very bland taste in music.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:15 AM

Yeah Jurassic are good...glad to see them back

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:16 AM

It still blows me away that RHCP are still a band.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:20 AM

No Bow Wow Wow? WTF?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:26 AM

I would take Bow Wow Wow over Vampire Weekend or Grimes any day.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:36 AM

Right on about Europe. Which is why you have to respect Metallica's festival last year.

Arctic Monkeys, Mettallica, Best Coast. They were throwing up all kinds of odd ball pairings.

A festival like Coachella should've landed something quirky like an Iron Maiden, David Bowie, Tom Waits.

This is pretty weak.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:39 AM

@10:39 if I saw David Bowie on this lineup it would have totally changed my perspective. I liked it when they were adding classic acts to perform to young kids. I would have loves to see Bruce Springsteen with people my age, rather than going to see them in NYC when the average age and profession is 50 years old and accountant

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:47 AM

just be thankful they didn't add Beyonce or Justin TImberlake to this mess

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:58 AM

No Grimes?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:14 AM

looked weak at first, but every day has 5 or 6 live bands worth seeing. it's just the lack of headlining heavyweights--too bad about Neil Young, or the Stones, or whoever.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:16 AM

Kanye will kill at Govs like he did at the Sandy benefit! And KOL has jumped ten sharks.
At least Band of Horses and Spiritualized are playing this one.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:17 AM

The lineup is really deep, but definitely not top heavy. More like a girl you wanna date than bang.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:18 AM

I'm shocked to see Jurassic 5 on this (hadn't heard the name in years), and in a surprisingly high up slot.

Also for the people who are going, get there early on Saturday. Vintage Trouble is a phenomenal live band.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:30 AM

11:14 Grimes is performing Sunday

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:33 AM

This might be the strongest lineup I've seen if you include everyone but the headliners. But BY FAR the weakest headliners ever at Coachella, 2 overrated brit bands, I hope Blur plays WOO HOO, yay touchdown Jets!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:36 AM

govball > coachella for the first time ever.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:37 AM

I like the Descendents and Ghost.

Actually some cool options here int he size 11 font or less group.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:43 AM

The Evens?? WTF?!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:45 AM

Breaking news: People have different tastes!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:46 AM

So, how about the fact that there were people on another thread here practically guaranteeing that the Rolling Stones were playing here because it was on their app?

suckers!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:48 AM

blur. fuck yeah!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:50 AM

oasis surprise appearance?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:53 AM

Hey everyone, The Evens have played Coachella before. Sorry.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:12 PM

What time does Daft Punk go on? (the original BV meme, for newcomers)

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:33 PM

almost as bland as boatchella

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:36 PM

What a sad line up.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:50 PM

Kurt Vile is on the last fucking line in Day 2?! really?

Under names like Birdy Nam Nam and Theophilus London?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 12:57 PM

Gotta wait for the Bonnaroo lineup before we pick favorites, guys and gals. Really thought Justin Timberlake or Atoms for Peace would be at Coachella, tho.

Posted by Doc | January 25, 2013 1:34 PM

It says a lot about music scene today that there are no bands from the last 15 years that would make a true festival headliner. Phoenix are a headliner? What a joke! What a weak lineup! That's the only reason this fest got into the reunion thing. Bands have gotten away from having a big message or big sound. It's really too bad.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 2:11 PM

RHCPeppers AGAIN!! The rest of the line up pathetic........ No way this is the best festival ever....my seventh year and LAST

Posted by Bear | January 25, 2013 3:03 PM

Anyone else notice that comedians have been completely weeded out from the festival? Guess that didn't go over so well.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 3:39 PM

Im only 30 and I have never heard of the stone roses or Blur. Guess Im out of it

Posted by ty | January 25, 2013 3:52 PM

Holy shit! Father John Misty hardly ever plays shows anymore. I'm going to fly in for sure now.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 4:02 PM

where is Korn?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 5:26 PM

3:52, troll as dumb as fuck

thought this lineup looked much better than governors, don't see why everyone is so upset that many bands aren't "current" - who cares?

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 5:37 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 7:26 PM

There's reason The Stone Roses never caught on in America. They were not a very good band. Coachella is running out of gas. No more old bands to pay to reunite and the new indie/alt scene is just not happening anymore. Phoenix? Postal Service? Vampire Weekend? Hot Chip? Grizzly Bear? Yeah, I'm dying to jump on a plane to see those bands! Ha ha!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 7:39 PM

I feel like a chump for buying my tickets last June.

I've gone to every Coachella since moving to California in 06. This is my last.

Maybe I can get face value for my tickets and make a trip to the Governors Ball.

Phoenix? Stone Roses? Seriously?

Posted by Old Bro | January 25, 2013 8:51 PM

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:15 PM

Black Flag has just been added.

All 4 singers will sing at the same time backed by Raymond Pettibon on bass with his big bro on the gitbox and Brian Migdol on the skins.

This will not rule so hard.

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 10:53 PM

The real question is who's playing the Bay Area between both weekends! That's the real benefit of Coachella!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:25 PM

When Modest Mouse is that high, it ain't happening.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2013 10:54 AM

Took me 3 days to notice the descendents were on that poster.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2013 11:15 AM

Woot postal service , yeah yeah yeahs , Tegan and Sarah!

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2013 1:27 PM

Maybe this festival would excite me if I live in Montana or Idaho (and there was a better lineup). Living in NYC I have zero interest.

I'm american btw.

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 12:22 AM

there is no way phoenix can carry the main stage. the only part of this festival that is a step up this yr is the sahara tent. gv must have gotten some help booking it. real djs such as Cassy,Loco, Jamie Jones, and Voorn will sound great there. although I have to say that the last time I went to this festival think they had LDC going into Daft Punk in that tent. easy way to get the fondest of memories. year before that Kraftwerk finished that tent off on the last night. recent years are a far cry from that. set the bar to high and cant get back up there gv.

Am I that old that I have no idea who the Saturday headliner is?

Let's see... google google google... a French alt rock band? Really?

Lets have a listen then... youtube youtube youtube...

Hmmm. Sort of garage-y. They sound like a weaker version of that Scottish band... what were they... oh yeah... Franz Ferdinand.
