The Village Voice's annual "Pazz n' Jop" critics poll is up and, as with anything like this with averaged votes, the winners are probably not that surprising. Frank Ocean's Channel Orange takes the top album slot (Kendrick Lamar is #2), and Carly Rae Jepsen's inescapable "Call Me Maybe" comes in at the top of the singles list. (Miguel, who is on the cover of the Voice this week, comes in at #2 with "Adorn.")You can also view individual ballots and read pithy quips about the year as a whole.
The top 10s for Pazz & Jop albums and singles are below and full lists are over at the Voice.

1236, you do realize he still submits a ballot, right? Xgau's ballot this year was especially hilarious: http://www.villagevoice.com/pazznjop/critics/2012/684394/

Christgau listens to Skrillex pass it on

wow... that Christgau ballot has to be a joke, right? Or did he really think Neil Young's cover of "Oh Susanna" was the THIRD BEST SONG released all year?
I mean I love Neil Young and who doesn't love "Oh Susanna"? but that has to be a joke, right? How can you call youself a music critic and say that??

Who'd pick "Americana" over "Psychedelic Pill"?

I'll take Swans. You can keep the rest. Either it was a lousy year or pop/rock is just at an alltime low. Those singles ALL suck. The Voice is a shell of it's former self.

Embarrassing year for music altogether.

Christgau must now be suffering from alzheimer's to put "Gangnam Style" by Psy on his list.

I still read the Voice but it has gotten weak. Why don't they do stories on NY bands instead of Bob Dylan & Bruce S.? There is a great folk scene going on in S.I. now

The problem is these guys don't buy music anymore. The don't go to record stores. They get this crap music sent to them by the labels and that's all they listen to.

great year for hip hop, terrible year for rock

5:36, it was a pretty good year for music - just an embarrassing year to be a journalist
