Still from Heliotropes' "The Dove" video
Heliotropes

Heliotropes are busy putting the finishing touches on their debut album which will be released by Manimal Vinyl sometime this spring. In the meantime they've released the video for the album's single, "The Dove," and you can watch that in all its windblown black-and-white glory below.

Meanwhile, you can catch Heliotropes live in NYC at the previously mentioned show on Thursday (1/10) at Shea Stadium as part of a line-up that includes Hard Nips, Desert Sharks and Hippy. More info on that show is here. The show is the start of a weekend tour for Hard Nips and those tour dates are listed below, along with the Heliotropes video.

Heliotropes? Hard Nips? lol can you say tryhard, sounds like bands from a shitty mtv show or Michael Cera movie.

They are the worst. Obviously BV has never heard this shit.

12:26 is an idiot. Heliotropes are great, and they played a BV show last year where they were awesome. 92Y show.

They are so painfully derivative. They want so badly to sound like the bands they like, but as they are absolutely appalling musicians it becomes a very sad spectacle.

12:32 is the guitarist for heliomehs, lol

Smashing Pumpkins cover band with a jazz master positioned on the singer for hipster cred it seems.

1:26/12:58/1:11, I'm sorry your girlfriend broke up with you, but its pathetic to be lashing out at this band in response.

"1:26/12:58/1:11, I'm sorry your girlfriend broke up with you, but its pathetic to be lashing out at this band in response."

Says the dumb bitch with either a tattoo of a) her home state or b) a cassette tape or c) both.

Ah, so much vitriol -- jealous much? Anyway, this band is one of the best bands playing around Brooklyn right now.

BV comment trolls are a bunch of loser dudes who attack any post about female musicians, most times without even listening to the music.

Such guys are either a) closeted homosexuals b) unable to get laid or c) in need of therapy to deal with serious mommy issues

i hear they are "sex on a stick"
(and everything is better "on a stick")

So for this one, you're gonna want a crock pot. Get a few cans of beans, doesn't really matter, I usually use black beans, pinto beans and garbanzo beans. Grab a big can of tomato sauce, and a big can of stewed tomatoes. I also like to throw in a can of diced tomatoes, but it's up to you. Throw all that in your crockpot and start it up.

Get a few carrots and chop 'em up, coins are good but you can also cut them smaller if you like. They'll soften quite a bit, so don't worry too much about size. Chop up a red pepper and a green pepper, then saute those guys in a skillet over high heat with garlic and onions. When there are near ready, throw in your meat or meat substitutes and add your chili powder. Then dump that in the crockpot, wait 8 hours and baby you got yourself some chili.

this sounds like your friend's decent garage rock band from when you were in high school; they can't play very well or sing on key but they have some fun shows so who gives a fuck?

Posted by Anonymous | January 8, 2013 3:21 PM

I liked this better the first time I heard it.

In 1989.

"... they have some fun shows so who gives a fuck?"

Really? They are the equivalent to musical impotence live.

12:26, 12:58, 1:08, 1:11, 1:21, 3:21, 3:29, 11:25-- so... do you guys make your love for Bon Iver a central theme of your okcupid profile, or do you wait for the first date? wait, why am i saying "guys" like this is more than one person?? i saw this band at least three times before i ever met any of them and they always kicked ass live. i bet a lot of things sound derivative to the BrunchCore crowd. you mad, bro?
