Hoax at Acheron (more by Sarja Hasan)
Hoax

A packed-to-the-gills Acheron welcomed the stacked lineup of Cleveland punk crew Inmates, bloodied-Massachusetts-set Hoax, NYC favorites Warthog and Murderer on January 12, a rare showing for the Clevo crew (their last was in 2010). More pics from Acheron can be seen in their sweaty glory over at Invisible Oranges.

What kind of a jerk off throws a firecracker into the crowd?

The same one whose main gimmick is breaking a microphone against his head every show.

God look at all those folks salivating for sausage.

kill your idols - no gimmicks needed

the buck stops there. fuck this gimmicky ass shit.

Posted by Anonymous | January 16, 2013 5:40 PM

hoax looks like a crew that want to be known as "crazy guys" when they come into the big city. come on... busting yourself open like you're in pro wrestling? that shit is so worn out.

Posted by Anonymous | January 16, 2013 5:40 PM

Anyone who wants to be cool and try to impress a Cleveland band throws fireworks and does dangerous shit during a set. Real shock value.

Hoax are awful and the whole "our singer is a damaged weirdo" act is done to death. Fuck gimmicks, just write good music.

Posted by Anonymous | January 16, 2013 5:48 PM

That singer is trying way too hard to look like a tough maniac.

Ric Flair wants his act back.

hoax = faux ass nonsense

as stated above many times above, gimmicks are weak.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 1:14 AM

the buck stops there.

"What kind of a jerk off throws a firecracker into the crowd?"

Maybe the same one that did the same thing at the Lightning Bolt show on Halloween Eve about 3 years ago.

"...the whole "our singer is a damaged weirdo" act is done to death."

No shit. I think that shit died after Jesus Lizard, anyway.

except that yow was a consumate frontman for a truly great band. this guy is just an arm flapping clown barking over mediocre cliched hardcore

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:52 AM

These dudes would get their weak asses kicked at a real hardcore show.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:58 AM

6:08- the music is ok, but I agree.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:59 AM

I have trouble believing murderer aren't a joke band

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 5:15 PM

a gimmick is a gimmick, but neither Kill Your Idols nor Jesus Lizard ever wrote a good song.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 5:30 PM

show was beyond packed.. left after 1 warthog song when my buddy started throwing firecrackers up front.. the idea of dying in that small space by stampeding punx seemed unnecessary.

"a gimmick is a gimmick, but neither Kill Your Idols nor Jesus Lizard ever wrote a good song."

....while i'm happy to say i've never heard kill yr idols, i can boldly declare that the jesus lizard wrote like 4 awesome, not good, albums. have you even heard them? the four parts of that band at their prime were pretty fucking amazing. ya know, pretty much the polar opposite of hoax.

RRRRRR. i'm crazy. i bash the mic in my head. i look like a nazi skin. we jock 80's hardcore RRRRRRRRR.

Being a former NYer, throwing firecrackers into the pit is an Ohio thing. I found that weird when I moved here and it's been going on for many years.

Posted by kevinmarion | January 19, 2013 10:27 AM

1:37- Kill Your Idols were great as well. Don't be a close-minded.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2013 11:08 AM

A lot of people there. That is for sure.
