Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar appeared on Saturday Night Live last night (1/26) to perform two tracks off of good kid, m.A.A.d city, "Swimming Pools (Drank)" and "Poetic Justice" with a killer live band in TDE shirts. He also appeared in a digital short with The Lonely Island to do a track called "YOLO." You can watch videos of all three songs below.

Kendrick will return to NYC in June for Governors Ball. 3-day passes for that festival are on general sale now.

Same as Feank Ocean performance -- talentless.

i honestly don't understand why all the acclaim has been lauded upon him.... those were two incredibly dull, ultimately unforgettable songs... the band was very good, though

if anyone disagrees with me just go watch check the rhime or any one of 1000 other golden era hip hop songs

the album is great but live it just seems to be missing something. he has the songs, though. hopefully it will come together.

let's face it, that shit was terrible. plus most of the skits were horrible. not as bad as last week with the luminars, but pretty bad. last weeks show with the luminars had zero funny skits. the news sucked. and then the music act sucked even more.

Posted by Anonymous | January 27, 2013 6:23 PM

That was some SHIT!

Dare I use the "N"-word to describe him?? Well fuck it, he's just Nasty!

This is what passes for talent these days? Pathetic.

The YOLO video was fantastic. The best rappers are all white. The Beasties, Eminem and the Lonely Island. They know how to rap, be funny and relevant at the same time.

GO NINJAS GO NINJAS GO!

@9:42

show me the tracklist then

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2013 8:44 AM

Sucks. Doesn't even qualify for the 'overrated' label in my view.

He was absolutely brilliant. The man is a prodigy. His music transcended from art into science from that very performance. Born from the earth, the man has risen to the cosmos and come back, not as a man, but as something more. A godlike being that gods would worship. Something we are not meant to look upon.

album is hip hop AOTY 2012 easily
this performance was fucking terrible. Do they use live band to appease white people?

"Best MC in the game today"

You are dumb

"The YOLO video was fantastic"

You are an even dumber

"album is hip hop AOTY 2012 easily "

No, it's not. Easily.

Stop quibbling over good hip hop or else we'll be subjected to drake for another 10 years, fools.

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2013 11:25 AM

He's not as good a Pitbull

I was so excited when Seinfeld was there, I was pleasantly surprised by Camera Diaz, and I enjoyed the digital short. I fast fwd'd my tape past the musical numbers, so I do not have an opinion on Mr. Kendrick. I pine for the golden days of SNL when Tina and Jimmy were having all sorts of fun!

Posted by Anonymous | January 28, 2013 1:34 PM

10:04, they use live bands to punch up what is almost always a shitty performance by rappers. Live hip hop sucks. The exceptions are the ones who use live instrumentation (Talib Kweli, The Roots).

Also why would that be used to appease white people? James Brown had a band. Otis Redding had a band. Ray Charles had a band. Stevie Wonder has a band. I understand it's a different genre, but your statement was incredibly fuckin dumb and naïve.
