The Strokes

While we've heard snippets from Depeche Mode's new, supposedly back-to-basics album, Delta Machine (due March 23) but we now have the first full song from the album. You can stream the ballad-y "Heaven" at KROQ.

I love DM, and this is still pretty awful.

Not a bad song but odd choice for a lead off single...unless the whole album is like this

perhaps DM's "in-studio collage" hints at more promising things http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NihMVuspKQw

The heavier they are the better I like them. Their last album was a major disappointment. The tour was awesome though once they got past the 3 weak opening new tunes. Playing The Angel was a great one. Hope they go back to sounding like that. This single sounds like a b-side.

Is this where I sign up to date Marnie Stern or is that happening at the secret Piano's show tonight?

Depeche Mode were never the same after Alan Wilder left. News flash Dave Gahan; stop convincing yourself you can sing. Also, goth isnt your thing. Go back to the short hair, leather motorcycle jacket look will ya!

The most interesting, credible thing this band ever did was heroin.

Everything else is serious weaksauce.

soooo looking forward to this record.

I've been dissapointed by their last 12 albums.

They should just tour 101 again.

I'm taking a ride with my best friend....everything since has been meh and that's been what? 25 years or more?

Dave Gahan, stop taking your shirt off.

Private Video? Guess the comments on BV were enough to scuttle it.

Can we just have Music for the Masses part deux instead?

450 Where do you get the Goth thing from? He has short hair and a suit on in promo pix. He's not exactly a biker either. Musically they were at their best in the 90's when he looked like a junkie. Oh wait, he was!

I heard this one is religion inspired bc they've been studying the Torah! Torah! Toooorah!

506 You are nuts. They peaked with Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion & Ultra although Playing the Angel in 05 was pretty good also. They also became a much better live act in the 90's when they added a real drummer.

sounds like a cross between the strokes and surfer blood

Weird ... people still listen to Depeche Mode?

Posted by Anonymous | January 30, 2013 8:39 PM

sounds a lot like Soulsavers, but this is definitely better than anything off their last record
they did indeed declared that this record would be more introspective, and soul influenced
just hope the entire record does not sound like this single

I really liked their Banjo infused country & western album they made in the 90's. I thought their best song was that one about painting a barn. That was classic Depeche Mode right there!

I like the song from the Gap commercial!

Wow. That cover is biting heavily from OK Computer.

Song is ok, but could use some serious cowbell.
