Soundgarden @ T5, 1/16/2012
Soundgarden

Soundgarden tore into New York City last night (1/17), playing Terminal 5 which was part of the American Express Concert Series. With no openers, Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron and Ben Sheppard ripped out a 26-song, nearly two-and-a-half hour set. If you went, how was it?

This was the first of three NYC shows for Soundgarden and they'll hit Hammerstein Ballroom on January 22 and 23 both of which are sold out. More pics from T5 the setlist from that show are below.

GREAT SETLIST!

why so much sausage? C'mon ladies. This isn't a Crowbar show.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:33 AM

amazing setlist for sure!

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:46 AM

10:33 oh, so dumb.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:47 AM

$30 for a tshirt? Probably some hummus flavored tshirts...

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:53 AM

picture of scarf guy is hilarious

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 10:56 AM

Good show, not as good as Irving but still a blast. The ape in the Rodman jersey wins biggest d-bag award for those up front.

I've defended this venue a lot lately, to the point of being accused of being an employee by commenters. But let me say, last night was the worst I've seen T5 in ages. Awful muddy sound. Awful staff doing terrible crowd control, and a bunch of dudes who haven't been to a show since Soundgarden broke up in 96. What a miserable experience. I'm glad I only paid $20 because that's all this was worth.

Yes it was a great show over 2 hours long.. I think they could have played some more older songs... the crowd was lame.. irving plaza a much better setlist and show! looking forward to hammerstein next week

11:04 sound is bad under the overhang or by the bar!

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 11:16 AM

I had a really kewl time

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 11:21 AM

BEST SHOW EVER

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 11:22 AM

This was the most epic show I have ever watched on TV on the second level of T5.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 11:27 AM

11:16 it seemed they got their act together with good sound coming out of the satellite speakers mounted under the overhang. I recently saw a show there where it sounded *better* than being in the main part of the floor. But everything was just so muddy yesterday.

glad to have visited your site

Posted by nick | January 17, 2013 11:44 AM

the bass player looked like he was pissed at his roadie and pissed overall.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 11:54 AM

Nah, that's just Ben Shepherd

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 12:03 PM

"picture of scarf guy is hilarious"

It was probably 10:33.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 12:07 PM

was there an opening act? anyone know what time soundgarden hit the stage?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 12:28 PM

oh nice, they played black hole sun

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 12:30 PM

No opener, they went on around 8:15-8:20

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 12:39 PM

11:16,

Why the fuck would you hang out in the overhang by the bar? Might as well stay home. I'm convinced that everyone that complains about T5 are those dipshits that get stuck on that shitty side section. Every time I'm there and on the floor, sound and experience has been fine.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 1:58 PM

@11:04

Sounded great up front. Get there earlier.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 2:00 PM

i don't think theres enough photos of mr cornell

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 2:18 PM

Sound from the floor was awesome. Amazing show. Amazing shoe.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 2:28 PM

flu balloon

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 2:34 PM

You misspelled "Ben Shepherd". Were not even close. What is wrong with you?

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 2:57 PM

people were selling what i presume was "unlicensed" merchandise outside after the show. Chris will not be pleased.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 3:25 PM

date by the set list is last year ;)

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 4:59 PM

Oh cool. Foo Fighters.

Posted by Anonymous | January 17, 2013 8:54 PM

1:58,

I am convinced that you and the other dumbasses who say the sound is amazing or even fine at T5 are clueless to what an actual great sounding venue is. Probably Jersey douchebags as well.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2013 12:43 AM

Those pics are about as exciting as an IV drip.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2013 5:28 AM

I was around 30 ft from the stage in the center and thought the sound sucked. We moved around a bit but it never got any better. Typical for T5. They need additional speakers on the stage besides the ones up above the stage. Cool show but not nearly as good as Newark last year.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2013 5:33 AM

1243 "Probably Jersey douchebags as well." So what great place are you from? There are "douchebags" that come from everywhere. As for T5, some bands that I have seen there do sound ok but most do not.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2013 5:47 AM

Nice Photos :D

Killer show - if you were in the pit or on the edges of it. Was the best place to be. Everywhere else was TOO CROWDED.

tHE music was perfect in the pit, I heard every note and vocal. That show was tremendous if you are a die hard SG fan, if not, who cares what you think...

Posted by Dave | January 18, 2013 2:06 PM

As far as I'm concerned, just how cramped it gets in T5 (like if it's a sold out show or close to it) is more of an issue to me than whatever sound problems make some scarf want to act all cool/hip/hoity-toity on a site like BV and try to shove their OPINION down other's throats.

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2013 4:01 PM

401 A "scarf"? So it can sound like crap as long as you have your space?

Posted by Anonymous | January 18, 2013 11:52 PM

"if you are a die hard SG fan, if not, who cares what you think..."

Yeah clown, the die hard SG fans went to see them at Irving Plaza. The better show.

Posted by Anonymous | January 19, 2013 12:43 AM

Where did Cornell get those guitar straps with the stars? Those are SIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:43 PM

That show was amazing. soundgarden is the shit

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:43 PM

I love you chris!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 25, 2013 11:48 PM

11:43 those guitar straps are the Orion guitar straps. I just got one for my Les Paul. They feel and look sick!

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2013 9:36 AM

I fuckin' lost my shit during SPOONMAN, fuckin' spilled my brewski.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2013 5:22 PM

9:36 thanks, they're awesome!
5:22 Haha, you should get an Orion strap for your brewskis.

Posted by Anonymous | January 26, 2013 7:24 PM

Everything looked and sounded great from up front. Even got dry hummped from the dude behind me with the "Stiffie". Chris was amazing. How can you bitch about SG tickets for 20 bucks? WTF! SG are the shit!!!

Posted by Anonymous | January 30, 2013 1:12 AM

What time did show start and what time did they go on?
