The Wailers @ The Paramount - 1/20/13
The Wailers

The Wailers, Bob Marley's backing band who now tours being led by longtime bassist Aston Barrett, are on tour now performing their 1979 album, Survival, in its entirety plus a set of hits afterwards. The tour stops in NYC on Thursday (1/24) at Brooklyn Bowl for a show with Top Shotta Band. Tickets for that show are available. All remaining dates are listed below.

The tour also stopped in Long Island over the weekend for a show at Huntington's Paramount on Sunday (1/20) with Groundswell and Frank Viele. We caught that one and pictures from it are in this post. Though they're obviously without Bob Marley, our photographer said that the band is still a ton of fun to see and their hits-filled set which had songs like "Redemption Song," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Jamming," and an extended version of "Exodus," had everyone on their feet and dancing.

More pics, the Wailers setlist from the LI show, and a list of remaining dates below...

^ No, because there's this thing where Tosh and Marley are somehow dead for some unknown reason.

The real Wailers are a rock band from Washington. Fuck these idiots for stealing the name.

last good year for the wailers was 1974, maybe 1973.

last year was 73? What about the Babylon By Bus tour in 78? Idiots who know nothing about reggae...

The first balcony wasn't crowded and the sound wasn't bad, but the energy was pretty flat tonight.

Wish I could of been there to see the Wailer's live. I guess I'm just unlucky to not live at the places they are touring.

Educational posting, it is great to at last find some worthwhile writing on the internet, I am pleasently suprised to find a blog that is not full of the ubiquitous garbage, thank you.
