I literally read their name as Dawn of Hummus. I need to spend less time on BV.

The full lineup of shows for New York's Alright was posted on The B9 a few days ago and the prices for some of those shows are absolutely RIDICULOUS e.g. $20 shows with Hank Wood & The Hammerheads, The Rival Mob, and Crazy Spirit as HEADLINERS. Huh?

What drugs did whoever who's booking this "fest" take when he set show prices? Those prices have recipe for flop written all over them cuz who's paying $20 to see shows at 285 Kent and ABC No Rio with bands who usually play for $5-10?

Posted by ! | February 9, 2013 3:12 PM

3:12, you're forgetting all the trust fund crust punks (haha, what a fucking joke how many of the punks in NYC are not punk in anything but appearance) that have mommy and daddy pay their bills/rent, so they can blow $110+ on a punk festival (and also have the time to go to all of the shows, since they don't need to work).

great lineups, horrible prices

Posted by Anonymous | February 9, 2013 5:51 PM

I'm serious.

$20 for Hank Wood & The Hammerheads?

$20 for The Rival Mob??

$20 for Crazy Spirit???

Too much money.

I wouldn't pay $20 for all three on the same bill

It seems like this fest is targeting and attempting to capitalize on a demographic who has no clue about hardcore punk. 'Problem is what clueless kids 18 and under have $20 to spend on a show?

Btw this fest is hipster hardcore punk bullshit. It has "New York" in the name yet there isn't a single definitive NYHC band on it.

Posted by ! | February 9, 2013 7:19 PM

Since when did brooklyn vegan posters become connoisseurs of nyhc

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2013 8:59 AM

'Not a connoisseur of NYHC, just pointing out that this "hardcore punk" fest which has "New York" in the name doesn't have a single NYHC band playing it.

Posted by ! | February 10, 2013 2:48 PM

You don't have to be a 'connoisseur' of NYHC to know this festival is bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2013 3:17 PM

Here here 3:17pm.

Lame name for a fest. It has New York in it yet how many people playing it are actually from NYC? Are the promoters from NYC? I'm talking born here. 'Doubt it.

Posted by ! | February 10, 2013 4:31 PM

$20 shows with bands that didn't get flown into play are a total joke. way to fleece the pockets, faux punx

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2013 4:33 PM

ps. I HATE SAXOPHONES

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2013 4:35 PM

I hear ya 4:35pm.

Those prices look like ones made by people with no clue as to how to book shows or who think there's a demographic who doesn't know any better and will just pay.

Posted by ! | February 10, 2013 5:43 PM

I mean I hear ya 4:33pm.

Posted by ! | February 10, 2013 5:43 PM

'Those prices look like ones made by people with no clue as to how to book shows or who think there's a demographic who doesn't know any better and will just pay.'

So, rich hipster punks.

Posted by Anonymous | February 10, 2013 9:28 PM

New York's Alright....if you like overpriced shows.

Posted by PeeVing | February 11, 2013 2:03 AM

Yes and no 9:28pm. Hipster punks? Definitely. Rich? Nah just stupid and most probably still live at home or have ridiculously cheap rent shares from living with 3 to 10 people so $20 is a drop in the bucket for them. I guess that's who's being targeted cuz I don't think even the diehard of HWATH, Rival Mob, or Crazy Spirit fans would drop $20 see any of those bands at Sick Of It All/Cro-Mags/Madball show prices.

Hahaha good one 2:03AM!

Posted by ! | February 11, 2013 11:28 AM

If you actually hang out in the scene and get to know some of those punks' backgrounds, you'll find out that plenty of them come from wealthy backgrounds and that their parents do, in fact, give them money to fuck around in Brooklyn and pretend to be anti-establishment.

I don't know why anyone would pay $20 to see Crazy Spirit when they play around here fairly regularly for $10 or less.
I paid $12 to see Catharsis, and they're far and away better than all the bands on this bill.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 3:44 PM

Catharsis was $12 huh? Yet these New York's Alright people are charging 1 2/3 times / $4 shy of twice that for Crazy Spirit - ridiculous.

I'm still trying to figure out who the headliners are for this fest. They look more like just bands playing last.

Posted by ! | February 12, 2013 1:03 PM

I'm like the guy singing. I love to roll around on the ground.

Posted by catering winnipeg | June 28, 2013 7:14 PM

yea, no clue as to how to book shows or who think there's a demographic who doesn't know any better and will just pay.

I've been pretty down (physically and emotionally) in the last few days so the Katatonia / Cult Of Luna music will be perfect tonight.
