Frank Ocean

The 2013 Grammys went down last night (2/10), and here's a quick recap of some of the winners and videos of performances.

The big ones: Gotye took home Record of the Year for "Somebody That I Used To Know" (beating The Black Keys, Kelly Clarkson, fun., Frank Ocean, and Taylor Swift), Mumford & Sons won Album of the Year (beating The Black Keys, fun., Frank Ocean, and Jack White), and fun. took Song of the Year and Best New Artist (totally robbing Miguel's "Adorn" and "Call Me Maybe," and Frank Ocean (!), respectively). Other wins included Skrillex for Best Dance Recording (sorry Al Walser), The Black Keys for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song and Best Rock Album, Gotye for Best Alternative Music Album (beating Fiona Apple, Bjork, M83, and Tom Waits), Usher's "Climax" for Best R&B Performance, Beyonce's "Love On Top" for Best Traditional R&B Performance, Miguel's "Adorn" for Best R&B Song, Frank Ocean for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Robert Glasper Experiment for Best R&B Album, Jay-Z and Kanye West's "Niggas In Paris" for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song and their song, "No Church In The Wild" (feat. Frank Ocean and The-Dream) for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Drake's Take Care for Best Rap Album, Dr. John's Dan Auerbach-produced Locked Down for Best Blues Album, Jimmy Cliff's Tim Armstrong-produced Rebirth for Best Reggae Album, Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross' The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo score for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media, Bjork's Biophilia for Best Recording Package, The Beach Boys' long-awaited The Smile Sessions for Best Historical Album, Black Keys singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, and Mumford and Sons' "Big Easy Express" for Best Long Form Music Video. There were many other categories too and you can check out the full list of winners HERE.

And of course, during the Awards Ceremony a number of artists gave performances, which you can watch videos of below. You can see Miguel and Wiz Khalifa doing "Adorn," Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z doing "Suit and Tie" and then JT doing "Pusher Love Girl," The Black Keys, Dr. John, and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band doing "Lonely Boy," Jack White doing "Freedom At 21" with his all-guy band (he also played "Love Interruption" with his all-girl band but no video of that at the moment), Frank Ocean doing "Forrest Gump" with a thematically appropriate visual backdrop, a big tribute to Levon Helm with Elton John, Mavis Staples, members of Mumford and Sons, Alabama Shakes, and others, and finally, LL Cool J, Chuck D, Z-Trip, Tom Morello, and Travis Barker doing "Whaddup" with a small piece of Beastie Boys' "No Sleep Til Brooklyn."

Frank Ocean was terrible.

It's like mainstream music got even more embarrassing this year

Gotye won best Alternative Music Album? Other than the Grammys, has ANYONE ever referred to the Gotye album as "alternative?"

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 9:57 AM

Tyler the Creator looked so fuckin' swag, y'all! He don't give a fuuuuck!!! WOLF GANG

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 9:57 AM

"Gotye beat M83, Fiona Apple, Björk, and Tom Waits for Best Alternative Music Album"

This is why the Grammys are meaningless.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:04 AM

@9:57 other than the Grammys, does ANYONE still refer to a genre of music as "alternative?"

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:07 AM

Making Mirrors came out in 2011 though..

Mumford (aka U2 with acoustic instruments) are nausea-inducing.

Gotye doesn't have an album, he has a song. Since when do one-hit wonders win best-album awards?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:14 AM

Remember when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica in 1988 for "Hard Rock/Heavy Metal".

Classic.

the real winner was katy parry's knockers

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:19 AM

Based on Frank Ocean and Miguel's performances it'd be pretty hard to convince anyone they deserve a Grammy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:37 AM

I think Jack White's performance was the best one....did he win anything or was he shut out?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:43 AM

Dr. John looked like a corpse with the Keys! He's still fucking awesome though

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:46 AM

Yeah I love Channel Orange but that was not good.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:46 AM

Brian Wilson finally getting an award!

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 10:52 AM

Bjork won! That's cool!

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 11:27 AM

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 11:41 AM

Halestorm beat Marilyn Manson for best hard rock / metal. Hmm?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 11:46 AM

Yet another sad whimper from a dying industry

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 12:34 PM

Gotye sounds like Ozzy.

Looks like everybody is on the same page here. The rerun of the dog show was more entertaining (go figure).

What is the difference between record of the year and album of the year?

I saw Bruno Mars perform and then Sting came out, and then somebody else came out. Somebody was complaining that that Bruno Mars song is a total Police ripoff, but what songs does he rip from? I just figured he was heavily influenced by them

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 1:20 PM

It's done in the style of a Police song, and he sings just like Sting. It wasn't one song specifically. It's kind of like one of Weird Al's style parodies.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 1:58 PM

Record of the Year is for the performance of a song (single), Song of the Year goes to the songwriter, Album of the Year goes to the performer for a fulllength.

2013 Stink Bug Awards

Posted by muskrat | February 11, 2013 2:03 PM

^ Record of the Year is one song

Album is obviously the whole album

The Police song is "Can't stand losing you"

Frank Ocean sucked. He had no business headlining ATP either. The indie music scene isnt indie anymore by any means. Its simply co opted by the majors to develop the artist and manufacture "cred". Which explains how in less than a year, Frank Ocean wins a grammy and headlines ATP. bye.

Hey,easties--was'nt there supposed to be some big Springsteen tribute?? What happened to it??

Posted by nutria | February 11, 2013 2:13 PM

My personal fav moment was Katy Perry presenting an award right after Jack White's performance (arguably the only good one of the night) and being drowned out by the static and feedback still eminating from the stage....and her tits looked great!

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 2:21 PM

In my humble opinion, the highlight of the Grammy's was the Sabra commercial. Did anyone see that?

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 2:24 PM

pinball wizard still cool but taylor SHIT

Posted by mutant from wrong turn | February 11, 2013 2:46 PM

The guy from the Black Keys should have gotten the award for the best "looking like a junkie" look. And Jack White for the "I am going to die soon, just like Elvis" award.
Adele should have gotten the "I look like dog poop wrapped in wallpaper" one. So many missed opportunities.
Mumford and Sons and the Lumineers should all commit suicide on the day the Pope leaves the Vatican. That would be lovely.

Posted by Anonymous | February 11, 2013 3:05 PM

we are an adoring public are we not??

Ellen on Katy: Hey, that mint ice cream was great after the show!

Adele: more like the to much rolling in the clotted cream award (oh wait, that was last year, sorry!).

Faith Hill--is'nt she a little old for braces?? Maybe she should suggest to Taylor??

Posted by cupid | February 11, 2013 3:26 PM

Seriously Katy Perry has some fucking unreal tits. Boy i'd love to be John Mayer's dick. That has entered some sexy fucking ladies.

Best line of the night has to go to Jay-Z saying he wanted to thank the swap meet for The-Dream's "Boyz in the Hood" cap

Jack White snubbed for Album of the Year by Mumford and Sons?! What the hell has happened to the music industry? Jesus. That's just pathetic. And after his kick ass performance and everything. Just bullshit

and being drowned out by the static and feedback still eminating from the stage....
