Jim James w/ MMJ at Capitol Theatre in 2012 (more by PSquared Photography)
Jim James

My Morning Jacket frontman JIm James, who was just announced for Bonnaroo, is currently on his previously discussed tour in support of his new solo album, Regions of Light and Sound of God, which hits NYC for multiple shows. Those shows include tonight's (2/19) sold out MHOW show with Dean Wareham, and Wednesday's super intimate sold out show at McKittrick Hotel (2/20). However, if you'd like to get into tomorrow's McKittrick show, you've still got a chance because we are giving away a pair of tickets, courtesy of show sponsor RDIO. The tickets only grant access to Jim's set, not the "Sleep No More" show, which happens right afterwards.

Jim's dates also include other NYC shows on Thursday (2/21) for the Tibet House benefit, and a sold out show at Webster Hall (4/29) with Cold Specks. All other dates are listed HERE.

I think you've officially lost your mind and let your ego take over once you start wearing a cape.

Unless you are Dracula or Kramer, noone gets away with wearing a cape.

dean wareham opening for jim james tonight = pretty awesome. also learned that jim james is producing dean's new album. sweet.

what? dean and britta are a total snooze fest, this sucks. i was hoping for no opener.

Kramer never wore a cape. That was Frank Costanza's lawyer.

If you'd like to get into tonight's "sold out" MHOW show, go to Stubhub and buy one of the many under face tickets available. Lower prices every minute!

Jim James is the peanut butter sangwich at the smorgasbord of modern music

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 2:48 PM

can't believe tonight's tix are actually selling below face, that's crazy

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 2:52 PM

feel like an idiot for paying over twice what the stubhub tickets are now about a week ago

also ridiculous that over 1/5th of the venue's capacity was on SH within 2 hours of the onsale

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 3:09 PM

3:09, i'm with you. i fucking paid twice face for tix to tonight's show and although i'm happy to be going, that just sucks. the whole ticket rigging issue, particularly in nyc, is fucking untenable. if i don't get thru pre or regular on-sales in the future, i'll never buy on the secondary market for a premium again. fuck this shit, so over it.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 3:18 PM

Yeah, its not even good cape weather.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 3:25 PM

@318 sucks. you need to learn how to play the BP like they're playing you, it's a whole new game thanks to them internets.

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 3:47 PM

Especially since they just released more tickets through ticketmaster.

What's the McKitrick hotel thing like?

Posted by Anonymous | February 19, 2013 4:11 PM

Also was hoping for no opener.

if it weren't so expensive, i'd def hit up the sleep no more performance. that'll be really weird and intimate and unique.

i've seen the show before and didn't want to drop that coin just to see him, but i'm sure it'll be cool.

Fantastic show as always,@ 2:46 thanks a million.

Jim sounded great last night. It was def a little weird to hear them rocking out MMJ tunes w/o the rest of the band, but they did a good job. I was particularly impressed with the drummer.

For me, the only low point is at the end of the album, don't really like the last two songs. Otherwise, the songs translate excellent live. Highly recommended if you can catch him.
