Quicksand

What's next for reunited post-hardcore heroes Quicksand? After finishing their second of two NYC dates at Webster Hall last night (1/31, the first was 1/30), which was the final date of a larger reunion tour, it's hard to know what this crew will do. I do know this, Walter & co still put on one hell of a live show on on Wednesday, plowing through favorite after favorite like a well-oiled machine at Webster Hall. Cymbals Eat Guitars had the unenviable task of direct support but held their own in clearly hostile territory.

If you missed Cymbals Eat Guitars at either date at Webster, you're in luck. Look for the band to hit Shea Stadium on March 2 with Grooms, Pretty & Nice and Maquina Supervium. Tickets are on sale. If you happen to be allergic to Bushwick, live vicariously through the pictures/setlists from Wednesday's Webster Hall show below.

First band was getting so much shit, thought they were going to get pulled off the stage and beat up. Really a bad choice.

I was there both nights, Cymbals had their own fans and to me it didn't seem like the QS crowd was hating on them? Pretty respectful from where I was.

Baphomet with vocals as the show closer last night was INSANE.

fun show (went to last nights show). you could tell walter was really loving the night/playing quicksand. he even said 'why haven't we been doing this all along?'

The energy and vibe in the room was amazing. I really hope they stick around this time and make some new music. I brought noobs to the show and they're all hooked now. C'mon Wally! Do it for the noobs!

GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!

QUICKSAND!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 4:04 PM

I hope they just keep on touring over and over again without making any new music. Maybe they could write one song... call it "Bam Thwak" or something.

wally's like freakin' shaun cassidy on stage these days, prancing around, looking pretty and shit. ya gotta hand it to them, tho. they still love playin live. last night's show was criminally oversold, though. can't move an inch and no one slams, so the crowd JUST STANDS THERE.

Great show from what I remember (kinda blacked out about halfway in), had full on energy and Walter really seemed to enjoy it. He was really doing a number on all those hand jives!

Great show last night. So many reunion shows I have been to have been sing-a-longs, and this one was no different. anyways, a good time.

Bam Thwok....woka woka!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 4:31 PM

If Kerry Parrel and Jen's Affliction can put out a decent album after so many years, Quicksand can definitely do it.. C'mon do it! Dont be a bunch of Bam Thwoks

I took better pics with my cell phone.

Alan Cage. That is all.

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 4:48 PM

Speaking of Alan Cage..
I had a dumbshit ask me this morning how Sammy Siegler's drumming was last night. I corrected him and he continued to argue with me that I didn't know what I was talking about. I got fed up and put an end to it... He wasn't looking good when the paramedics arrived..

4:58 - cool story bro, tell it again.

How does Walter look so young after all of these years? Great show on 1/31/13!!

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 5:06 PM

was there a barricade at the show?

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 5:15 PM

The show was way oversold. Webster Hall and the promoter sell more tix than main room capacity with the idea that people will be in the other smaller rooms. Assholes.

Walter doesn't have the intense energy that made these songs so amazing 16 years ago. And there were some definite lagging points during the show last night where the band just wanked guitar feedback for seven long boring minutes.

Tip for the photographer: take shots of the audience, the merch, the venue, the bouncers etc. These photos look like they were taken during soundcheck. Not a single audience member in any of the frames. You captured the band members well and have great lighting skills. Now get some variety of subjects.

We're there any chicks or was this the sword fight I envisaged?

I loved the "lagging points" I thought they sounded cool. I hope they write new stuff and go in that direction.

I like to sneak backstage with my camera and photograph the many deli trays piled high with tofurkey cold cuts and celery sticks

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 10:50 PM

Tom Capone still looks like the bitter cunt he is... Some things don't change.

Posted by Anonymous | February 1, 2013 11:53 PM

i was at 1/30 was the only set difference on the 31st baphomet ??

Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2013 12:13 AM

Why no pics or mention of Dave Hill's opening set? It was awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2013 9:28 AM

Caught the Boston show and the vibes were killer. Good times.

Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2013 9:34 AM

It is odd that there's no one from the audience in the photos. Maybe this was a photoshoot before the actual concert.

Posted by Anonymous | February 2, 2013 11:44 AM

I didn't know Chevy Chase sang in this band

quicksand is amazing.

These guys are WAY ahead of their time. This seems like it'd be from the early 2000's. Both these guys & Helmet.
