Ted Nugent

February is Black History Month as you may be aware. Opinionated bow hunter, conservative mouthpiece and occasional rock musician Ted Nugent plans to keep the spirit alive -- in his own special way -- past the end of this month on his upcoming tour. No, really:

When Ted Nugent hits the road this year, he's calling his tour "Ted Nugent Black Power 2013," he writes on the conservative website World Net Daily.

In a column that describes "dirty Democrat politicians" as the enemies of black Americans, the right-wing rocker reels off a string of statistics he says demonstrate how ineffective Democratic policies, including Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal and Lyndon Johnson's Great Society, have been at helping African-Americans overcome poverty, crime and a lack of education....

...Nugent, on the other hand, says he celebrates Black History Month "every day," because his "fire-breathing musical career was literally launched by black musical thundergods" including Bo Diddley, Little Richard, James Brown, Wilson Pickett and more.

"There is no doubt that my 2013 tour will be the best of my life," he writes. "With world-class virtuosos paying tribute to our black heroes nightly, it is only fitting that this year's tour is aptly titled, 'Ted Nugent Black Power 2013.' Say it loud: my music is black and I'm proud!" [Rolling Stone]

Oh, Ted. Read more of his screed here.

Skrillex will open all Idaho dates.

Leave Ted alone, there's plenty of crazy to go around on both sides

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:33 PM

There is plenty of crazy to go around on both sides but this guy is just a sad pathetic creature. I almost agree on just ignoring his idiotic ranting as it serves no purpose. Other than a good chuckle. What he wrote above can be whittled down to the old "Well i am the champion of black people cause I have some black friends" In this case his music was inspired by black artists when he was growing up. What a genius he is.

Just laugh because you can't argue with this dumbbell. You can show him things like Reagan's HUD department stealing money that was supposed to go to inner city housing causing real destruction to those neighborhoods seen today. He will just find some way to deflect that. Total tool.

The crazy on the other side tends not to get invited to SOTU addresses.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:40 PM

3:39 you are an idiot asshat. go away now, and never post anywhere on the internets again. OK, you may go now.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:41 PM

"The crazy on the other side tends not to get invited to SOTU addresses."

No, they actually give the SOTU address. Or clap like seals getting thrown stinky fish.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:43 PM

Oh please oh wise one 3:41 tell me why i am an idiot asshat. This I can't wait to read. I'm sure it will certainly be on the same level as Professor Nugent's intelligent missives.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:44 PM

Ted's no friend of BO like Pimp.with a Limp.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:47 PM

Trolling was slow today, thanks BV!

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:47 PM

3:44 is mad

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:48 PM

Thanks 3:41/3:48. Still waiting on your explanation.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:51 PM

I didn't see this coming. I have heard the stats about the current administration and other policies creating unemployment etc. but him saying his music is black music, that's weird.

Posted by Tax Filing | February 22, 2013 3:52 PM

TEND NUGGET IS A POLITICAL ACTIVIST ICON!!
one of a kind obviously.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 3:59 PM

Ted is the king troll. RESPECT.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 4:03 PM

I look forward to the Daily Show interviews with black people attending his concerts.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 4:08 PM

I think The Donald is the opening act for this tour.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 4:12 PM

Isn't it obvious by now that this guy will say absolutely anything for a little bit of the spotlight? He's figured that out, now the media (and BV) just has to catch on.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 4:20 PM

This man is many things. And many of his ilk are racist, openly or otherwise. But I honestly believe this man is actually not racist and I think it does have to do with the music.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 4:22 PM

When I consider our current polices and "the war on drugs" I have to agree with him.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 4:36 PM

isn't ted nugent dead?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 5:17 PM

^ yeah he die in Vietnam

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 5:22 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 5:33 PM

you forgot "racist" in your description of Nugent

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 5:34 PM

"With world-class virtuosos" Yeah ok!

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 6:08 PM

Ted was born brain dead.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 6:55 PM

Who still goes to see Ted Nugent? I picture a bunch of fat, scrubby-looking, 50-something-year-old guys wearing denim jackets with Foghat patches on the back.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 7:15 PM

does anyone else think he kind of looks like aileen wuornos ??

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 7:51 PM

Why didnt Ted go to Vietnam?

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 8:06 PM

^ because at heart he's a pussy.

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 8:37 PM

As long as he's dead or in jail this April

Posted by Anonymous | February 22, 2013 8:40 PM

I got some grief for doing the same kind of thing this guy is making money off of.
I don't need the money, but I would like to get it so that others (true believers and facetious trolls alike) will not.
I think the way that Nugent is prominent shows the true vacuum that is at the center of this vortex of paranoia, frustration, and hatred.
I stared into the void, and all I saw was phosphenes sparking across my retinas, in the shape of Barack, Bin Laden, and Stalin.

"fire-breathing musical career was literally launched by black musical thundergods" Awesome!

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 10:26 AM

His music sucks. His politics suck.
Ted Nugent sucks.
11:44 - What?

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 11:01 AM

Necessary evil. Fan...ish.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 11:02 AM

Disagree with his political views if you like, but to dismiss his contribution to rock and you just sound like a fool. OK, I get it, Radiohead don't owe him anything .... but Titus and Metz and Fucked Up and and and sure do. And they all owe it to the heroes that Ted is highlighting.

Don't be a dick. Learn how to take what you need and leave the rest.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 11:05 AM

Thank you, 11:05, oh Great Music Arbiter.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 11:15 AM

I second the Aileen wuernos comment.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 12:37 PM

No dog in this fight but in reference to 11:15 it is my experience - 100% of the time - that those people that get offended by other people expressing opinions are in fact so full of themselves that they will never see the irony of their own reaction. Just an observation, which will no doubt elicit a similar hate comment from the same person.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 3:38 PM

3:38 - I think you meant to write "opinion" where you wrote "experience".
Just an observation.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 4:48 PM

@11: 05

As a creative artist Ted Nugent is barely a footnote in the history of Rock. You're the fool to think otherwise.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 5:16 PM

4:48 - your observation and your intent were both wrong. the point is not transferrable, since I was not offended about the other poster's arrogance. so sorry, do come back and try again.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 5:48 PM

I think that it's safe to say that everyone that posts on BV considers themselves a "creative artist" so you win nothing and your point is nullified.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 5:49 PM

5:48 - Um, yeah.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 6:54 PM

@5:49 is spot on

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 7:30 PM

@ 5:49

My point was quite clear and very specific: said differently, in the larger scheme of rock music TN is pretty much a nobody. Unless you've taken a poll on BV your blanket statement about everyone
being a "creative artist" is w/o merit.

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 7:50 PM

i P o d s

Posted by Anonymous | February 23, 2013 7:54 PM

Ted should learn to spell Wilson Pickett's name correctly.

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2013 7:56 AM

5:16/7:50

Nice try. Your feckless attempt at self justification is embarrassing. You have not convinced me of anything. What it does prove is basically how you form judgements based on your own viewpoints and likes/dislikes, which is not objective at all - ergo you are the fool I described.

Do try to have a nice day now.

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2013 8:18 AM

Personally, I think Ted Nugent > John Lennon.

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2013 9:57 AM

8:18 - seriously, scrape the sand out of your vagina.

Posted by Anonymous | February 24, 2013 10:47 AM

F.D.R. was a republican. are you blaming the downfall of the African Americans on the Republicans?

Posted by terri coss | February 24, 2013 12:40 PM

Does anyone actually still go to see Ted Nugent live (other than middle-aged 50-something dirtbags and their fat wives)?

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2013 8:01 AM

Ah, parade of the idiots continues

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2013 8:26 AM

But it's true... love or hate his political views, the fact is that Ted hasn't done anything musically relevant since the '70's. Damn Yankees doesn't count. I picture his shows being not only a sausage-fest, but an OLD sausage fest.

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2013 8:48 AM

FDR was a Democrat. And blaming either party for insitutionalized racism in the US is like blaming Pepsico for obesity--they have played a part sure, but it has been a group effort. The Nuge is a dope who sincerely believes the sad delusion that a laissez-faire America will empower all. We're all entitled to opinions but not facts.

Posted by Howard Zinn | February 25, 2013 8:55 AM

Just to be clear, 8:26 - you're also marching in this parade.

Posted by Anonymous | February 25, 2013 3:05 PM

Ted nugent...don't agree with everything he says! But on the second amendment he is RIGHT ON!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2013 5:44 PM

ted nugent for the win.

Posted by Jamie | March 9, 2014 6:11 PM

It is too bad Ted's politics have taken the forefront of focus on him - people forget that he is a hell of a guitarist.
