The National at Beacon Theater in 2011 (more by David Andrako)

With the big Barclays Center show in June (with Youth Lagoon) already announced, we figured news of a new National album and full tour were on the way and now there's info on both. While they haven't released specifics (like a title), the new National album will drop sometime in May and the tour officially begins with a show at The State Theatre in Ithica, NY on May 16. Tickets to the just-announced shows will go on sale Friday, March 1. More info is here.

Some of those shows will be with Dirty Projectors who have just announced their own tour, that includes an NYC appearance at Governors Ball in June.

I'd rather a theatre show or three than the arena.

Hipsters rejoice. Also, a great night for non-hipsters to grab drinks in Williamsburg while no one is there.

We still say "drops" for new albums despite the fact that this definition of the word only seems to apply to the release of new albums? Can we please do a little bit more with the language?

Anyway the National are great.

kinda curious if they can pull off an arena show. Passion Pit looked miserable, but I bet this translates.

The major difference of course being that Passion Pit are talentless idiots and The National are actually really good.
