Thurston Moore

Matador Records confirms that it is in fact Thurston Moore in the BrooklynVegan comments, who wrote this:

I'm in London now - but i'm heading to east coast USA feb 16 -- gonna conspire with the band and matador and figure out where to do this -- i'm thinking sick house basement birthday party --- gonna see about inviting some heavy peeps like alice cooper, negative approach, savages (from france!), trash kit (from uk!), ZZZs (from japan!) -- or at least some local, wherever that may be, killer krusherzzzz!!! insanity approaches!!!!!
Matador also confirms that Thurston is still looking for ideas. Make your pitch in the comments of this post. See previous ideas, multiple comments from Thurston, and all CLM tour dates, in our previous post.

Donuts + Thurston Moore = best party ever.

Posted by Dee Vee | February 14, 2013 1:48 PM

I agree with some of the other commenters here. Donut FEST ( would be pretty awesome. I've been to a few BYT parties and they are always a blast--not-pretentious and super fun. Hopefully this happens!

Posted by Ryan H | February 14, 2013 1:51 PM

Ditto what the donut people said. YOU HEAR THAT SHAUNA?

Posted by Adrian | February 14, 2013 1:52 PM

DC has a really legit music scene that is kind of under the radar. You should come check it out. This would be a good venue:

Posted by Kashuo | February 14, 2013 1:52 PM

I kind of love the idea of the donut party. Because everyone always wants MOORE donuts! Get it?

I'd like Thurston, Kim, Lee, and Steve to play Donut Fest in DC - - but I'll settle for any of the four.

Posted by The Mitch | February 14, 2013 2:09 PM

I heard DC is the new Queens. Thurston would probably have fun checking out this:

Posted by Joe Cool | February 14, 2013 2:09 PM

Posted by Logan | February 14, 2013 2:18 PM

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2013 2:18 PM

'Donut Fest' doesn't sound like a 'sick house basement party'.

Posted by linx | February 14, 2013 2:21 PM

Yeah! Come rock out early at the donut party! You'll still be able to make it to your gig in NJ later that night too! (Or you could reschedule it, haha)

Posted by mh | February 14, 2013 2:39 PM

March 9, en route to Denton, TX from Atlanta, GA, you should stop in Lawrence, KS to play my living room. Do it. bozo-ology runs rampant in KS, but as you know from past visits, Lawrence is pretty chill. Come play my house! or just stop by and we'll smoke some hash and watch Masahiro Shinoda films. whatever. -peace friend

I know you are coming to detonate in my general proximity Seattle Area in march. How about adding an encore show in my living room? Please...

Posted by Shawn Nichols | February 14, 2013 5:52 PM

Thurston can't post on BROOKLYN vegan and then not choose Brooklyn for the party!

And it doesn't have to be a basement right? Let's open it off to weird lofts and warehouses. More options!

Posted by Anonymous | February 14, 2013 7:11 PM

It's a long shot, but what the hell. If June 21 in Olympia, WA fits yr schedule, I would love to have my birthday party detonated. Two bands practice at my house, so we've got all necessary equipment and cool neighbors.

Again, long shot, but this would like, totally rule.

Thurston should play the Trunk Space's 9th birthday party! Trunk Space is located in Phoenix, AZ and is a small all ages art gallery and performance venue!

Posted by steph | February 15, 2013 3:13 PM

Come blow out a local drummers fucking Bushwick birthday party this Saturday basement but none needed. We are your children!! What time should we expect you?

Posted by Kelley | February 15, 2013 4:33 PM

Thurston my birthday is March 13th! I live in Plano, TX, between Denton and Dallas. I don't think I'm going to be able to see you guys play at 35Denton on 3/10. Bummed! I notice that you have a free day on March 9th. That just happens to be a day I am considering to throw my 35 year birthday bash. It would be the most rad birthday ever if you played at my house party, I've been a huge fan since I was 12 years old and I love what I've heard of the new group so far. Can't wait for the album to come out! I have a fairly spacious place with room for you guys to crash if needed. I also notice you don't have any shows between 3/10 and 3/19. If the 9th doesn't work for travel reasons or whatever maybe you could play the following weekend the 15th or 16th? Honestly any date around there would work for my birthday party. I'm also working on getting some local friends bands to play. My girlfriend and I are musicians and would be honored to have you in our home and (just maybe, possibly jam with us). This is probably a pipe dream for me but oh man how righteous it would be. Also there are no right wing, NRA supporting, bozo's in my circle. Much respect.

How about a house party in Hamilton, ON the day after the Toronto show? It's on the way to Pittsburgh and you do have April 1 off. Food and beds to sleep in will be supplied. Plus we'll invite the kids from my son's grade 3 class. Perfect space in the living room for a sonic explosion/detonation.

Posted by Lane | February 15, 2013 6:17 PM

maybe he should play coco's next birthday party.
when was the last time he saw her?

Posted by Anonymous | February 15, 2013 7:16 PM

I second that Hamilton, Ontario show...

Posted by Michael | February 15, 2013 7:41 PM

The only way this will work is if someone from each location starts a facebook group and then get everyone in the area gets on board.

The band aren't going to show up to an area where its like some dude and a six pack...

Last year I had around 200+ people, 6 bands, photographers coming out on word of mouth. People said it was the best party they have ever been too. It was full of happiness and good times. Don't be hatin'!! The world doesn't need anymore mean people with opinions that they think really matter. My doggies had a blast & I love animals. No cruelty you cruel mean person. I'm a positive person and you can't keep me down. Boo to you on me trying to have a Engagement Party with my love doing what we love to do. Boo to you on hatin' on those who came out and had a blast, laughed, and left with full bellies!

Hey Thurston + Chelsea Light Moving-- There was recently a huge fire at my school Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, and a lot of students, including all of the senior painting majors, lost a huge amount of artwork, supplies and studio space. Would you consider playing a benefit concert to help raise money to replenish supplies for the students who suffered losses? Pratt has held a few shows in the Student Union space on campus. I bet we could work it out for you to play there.

Hey Thurston I took your workshop last summer at Naropa and you came to the full moon alleyway reading my friends and I organize. I play in two bands in Boulder, a spontaneous, intentional, chaos rock holy holy band, and a dancing folker pretty pretty. I could set up a house show or mountain party out here during SWP. -MattClifford

Thurston. We have shook hands on more than 1 occasion. I am 6'4 as well and my basement doesn't quite fit but I have a friend that lives in an old church on the Camden water front, directly across from Philly.
