Alt-J / Dawes @ The Parish, Austin, 3/11/2013


Alt-J have had quite a run in the last 12 months, going from relative obscurity to Mercury Prize winners and playing increasingly big venues both in their UK home and in North American (and elsewhere). This is their first SXSW, and the band got into Austin early to play the Rocket Fuel party at The Parish during the Interactive portion of the fest on Monday (3/11). AV Club favorites Dawes opened along with Welsh shoegazers Man Without Country. We missed the latter, but luckily they'll be playing the official BV showcase on Friday (3/15, 9:20 PM) at Maggie Mae's Rooftop.
Alt-J play two shows in NYC next week (Webster Hall and Terminal 5), both of which are sold-out. More pics from the Parish are below.
