As you know, BrooklynVegan is returning to Austin for SXSW this year and throwing four days of day parties at The Main & The Jr aka 603 Red River Street at the corner of 6th aka the old Emo's location. Those happen Wed (3/13), Thurs, Fri and Saturday (3/16). All shows are 100% FREE with RSVP.

We announced Saturday and Thursday, and now HERE IS FRIDAY...

The Thermals - "No Culture Icons" Official Video

We already told you that our metal blog Invisible Oranges (along with Heavy Dicks) is repping metal on the indoor stage (The Jr.) with Today is the Day, Pallbearer, KEN Mode, Royal Thunder, Inter Arma, Batillus, and Baptists.

12:15 Baptists
01:00 Batillus
01:50 Inter Arma
02:40 Royal Thunder
03:30 KEN Mode
04:20 Pallbearer
05:10 Today is the Day
The Main stage looks like this...
12:00 Half Moon Run
12:40 TOY
01:30 Diamond Rings
02:15 Shout Out Louds
03:00 Akron/Family
04:00 The Thermals
05:00 The Polyphonic Spree
This one, which is being presented with our good friends from M For Montreal, kicks off with two newer bands, Montreal's Half Moon Run and London's TOY (both of who released their debut albums in 2012), followed by a set by the always-great Diamond Rings. And while SXSW has proved to be a great place to check out newer acts, it's always fun to see the stuff we already love, which we will get from indie pop Swedes Shout Out Louds, the freaky folks of Akron/Family, brash melodic punks The Thermals... and it all culminates with the many-membered orchestra/cult The Polyphonic Spree. Should be a fun time, and plus it's open to the public and 100% FREE with RSVP. SXSW Badges and those on "The RDIO List" will be given priority admission.

PLUS: Free limited edition BrooklynVegan t-shirts for the first 50 people in the door thanks to our friends at American Apparel, who will also be on-site at the BV parties all week giving away even more free stuff.

AND... we'll have complimentary drinks courtesy of Jameson (while supplies last), free free vegan breakfast tacos courtesy of Pink Avocado (while supplies last), vegan nachos from Food For Lovers and free Zico water.

Bands will be well-equipped thanks to our generous and long-term backline sponsors Korg, Vox & Blackstar.

Those who show up will also get a chance to test out (and possibly win) the brand new Onkyo headphones before they hit stores next month. Onkyo will also be giving away some other awesome prizes on site at our parties all week AND you can head to their Facebook page now for the chance to win an Onkyo LS3100 Envision Cinema Bluetooth Home Theater Audio System or a pair of the new Onkyo headphones.

Keeping your mobile device charged at SXSW is always a challenge. BrooklynVegan will stay powered up all week thanks to mophie, who will also be on-site at our events, giving away passes and discount cards to the "mophie Mobile Shop" that will be conveniently located right down the street all week at 519 East 7th St.

Thanks also to Creative Recreation (who will be giving out sneakers on site), Signazon (who printed our banners, ASCAP, MailChimp and Redigi (a place to buy used MP3s).

Sign up for our MailChimp-powered SXSW Email list and follow @BVSXSW on Twitter for updates.

Because of the rise of various online photo-blog and social networking sites, insights into urban rad bro culture is reaching sheltered suburban audiences at an exponential rate. Cultural "norms" have been deconstructed by rad bro culture as a whole. rad broism is often dismissed as just an image thing by some, but the culture as a whole is effecting changes in society, leading to feelings of insecurity and resentment in people who are no longer a part of the cultural ruling class. For example, a lot of anti-rad bro sentiment evidently comes from culturally-clueless suburban frat boy types who feel that the more sensitive, intelligent, and culturally aware rad bro ideal threatens their insecure sense of masculinity. Anti-rad bro sentiment often comes from people who simply can't keep up with social change and are envious of those who can.
