GoogaMooga 2012 (more by Chris La Putt)
GoogaMooga

Brooklyn food, drink, and music festival The Great GoogaMooga, who we're sure have been working hard on figuring out to do things better the second time around, have announced the lineup for their second year which goes down from May 17 to 19 at Prospect Park. We just mentioned that the fest begins with a kickoff show on the Friday (5/17) with Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Flaming Lips, and The Darkness. The rest of the lineup includes Matt & Kim, Father John Misty, Sharon Van Etten, Lee Fields & the Expressions, and more playing on Saturday; and Sharon Jones & the Dap-KIngs, De La Soul (who recently announced a tour with LL Cool J, Public Enemy, and Ice Cube), Cults, The Soul Rebels, Delicate Steve, and more playing on Sunday.

Tickets for the kickoff show and VIP Cocktail Experience tickets for Saturday and Sunday go on sale Thursday (3/28) at noon, and general admission tickets for Saturday and Sunday become available in an online ticket giveaway which runs from April 1 to 3. "Complimentary tickets will be awarded at random and recipients will be notified by email on or before Wednesday, April 10."

Check out pictures of day 1 and day 2 of last year's festival.

man saturday and sunday lineup is fucking terrible! jovanotti! god superfly sucks some serious dick.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 12:57 PM

Awesome! Can't wait.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 12:57 PM

Hopefully the weather is great again this year.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:07 PM

no hall & oates no care

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:14 PM

If Sharon Jones and De La for free can't get you off the couch, you have no soul!

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:15 PM

last year suckkkkkkked. we'll see how this goes.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:15 PM

Hummus

Sent from my iPhone

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:26 PM

$8 WATER, $10 BEER, $20 SANDWICHES. NO THANKS

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:28 PM

Chances of YYY adding another show?

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:31 PM

Once again, this is unnecessarily complicated. Just reading the ticketing options is giving me a headache.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:36 PM

Kind of insulting that the real bands cost money but the crap is free.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:37 PM

VIP Cocktail experience? Kickoff tickets? Free regular weekend tickets but you have to win them? Already annoying and nothing has even happened yet.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 1:39 PM

You people are lame.
50 bucks to see 3 decent bands, and then two extra days of free bands. I'm in.
Who cares if last year's event sucked?
1) Even the non-free night is cheap
2) Truth be told, only Saturday sucked last year. They got their shit together by Sunday. And I'm sure they've got the kinks worked out by now.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:11 PM

last year rullllllllled. this should be great.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:12 PM

And I love how people complain about a free/cheap event, yet they have no problem paying 80 bucks to see a side-project like Atoms For Peace in a basketball arena for 75 minutes.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:12 PM

Nice! Going to see Cults on Sunday. FIRE WOMANNNN!!! YOU'RE TO BLAMEEEEE!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:24 PM

Crawfish Monica®. Worth going just for that. They should pay us to see Matt & Kim however!

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:39 PM

The Soul Rebels for free on Sunday. Yeah you right! You dopey hipsters stay in your little bubble and stay home.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:43 PM

if you go to this you're an idiot. and not just because it's Matt and Kim.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:46 PM

I'm going if 2:46 is not! Why would anyone be an "idiot" to go where there is free music and good food? Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, De La Soul & The Soul Rebels for free on Sunday. I'm there!

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 2:59 PM

aaaaand the great googa mooga PR team kicked in after 2:11PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 3:28 PM

"If Sharon Jones and De La for free can't get you off the couch, you have no soul!"

Or, you are under the age of 35.

I'm buying tickets for Friday, but 3:28 is right this thread got flooded with PR douche you can smell it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 3:52 PM

Seriously, will there be hummus available this year?

Last year I nearly starved as I strolled around the food area yearning for Phyto-Nutrients.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 4:00 PM

Who the fuck is saying that $50 is a cheap show?

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 4:05 PM

1:15 so right on my brother

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 4:07 PM

I'd rather read Googa Mooga PR team than that asshat tone deaf MSG apologist that loves Loves LOVES seeing shows in a hockey arena

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 4:08 PM

Last year's day 2 was great. Undercard for Saturday beats Sunday, but Sunday headliner is better. $50 for YYY and The Darkness seems about right. Drop the Flaming Gimmicks.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 5:00 PM

does lindsay lohan's rehab schedule allow her to attend?

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 5:09 PM

PR Team? Why just because some people actually like to go to fun things and enjoy bands that are not cool enough for you? What a bunch of losers. I doubt their PR people even bother with this site. Once again, if you cannot afford $50 stay home and go look for a real job. 408 I've seen great shows over the years in bars, clubs, theaters, fields, stadiums and yes, hockey arenas. Nothing beats the energy at a big show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 5:27 PM

^ edit* Nothing beats the energy of being jacked up on Phyto-Nutrients at a big hummus based restaurant.

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 6:07 PM

"The Soul Rebels for free on Sunday. Yeah you right! You dopey hipsters stay in your little bubble and stay home."

I was born without an immune system, thanks for rubbing it in

Posted by Anonymous | March 26, 2013 11:27 PM

I love how hipsters like 3:28 & 3:52 are so paranoid about being marketed to. Corporate marketing to a hipster is like kryptonite to Superman.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 8:44 AM

11:27 for the win.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 8:46 AM

8:46 = 11:27

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 8:59 AM

8:59 = 8:46 = 11:27

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 10:00 AM

^ not true
not even logical

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 10:23 AM

This was one of the worst experiences ever. Fuck that.

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 10:23 AM

10:23 = 8:59 = 8:46 = 11:27

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 3:01 PM

1 + 7(2 x 3) = 36

Yeah. Math rocks!

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 3:27 PM

1 + 7(2 x 3) = 43

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 4:09 PM

Googa Mooga + $50 > The Shins + $55

Posted by Anonymous | March 27, 2013 4:10 PM

Can anyone solve this doozy?

5(4 x 2) + 3(7 - 3) = ???
