As mentioned, Kurt Vile will release his new double album, Walking on a Pretty Daze, on April 9. His Bowery Ballroom show on May 16 is sold out, but if you'd like to see him sooner and for free, Kurt will be at the Apple Store SoHo on the album's release date as part of their "Meet The Musician" series. He'll talk with Matt Pinfield about the new record and then Kurt Vile & the Violators will perform live. Doors are at 6:30 PM and the program starts at 7 PM.

Kurt's added a few other dates as well, including Toronto's Urban Roots Festival and Louisvile's Forecastle Festival (both in July) and updated dates are below. Kurt also recently played acoustic on University of Minnesota's Radio K and a couple videos from that session are below.

Remember the 60 Minutes where the hippie discussed getting raped like crazy in a Texas jail because he didn't pay a $10 fine. He looked just like this Kurt Vile. Hey Kurt, cheer up you hoople.

KV is the fucking bomb, but fuck if you'll find me within 5 miles of the Apple store that day. That's got all the ingredients for a real hipster clusterfuck. So much smug attitude and self interest in close proximity of overpriced electronics, sounds like the 6th ring of hell.

there are many shitty fans of Mr. Vile. He is aware. What are ya gonna do?

I guess you could always license your music to Bank of America.

I guess you cold accuse someone of being a sellout like it's 1992.

like Kurt Vile can even earn a living wage without selling song rights for t.v. commercials. "smoke ring for my halo" was a great record and universally lauded by critics. how many copies of that record were even sold?

met Kurt when he played a shitty bar in CT back in 2011, Smoke Ring had just come out and he slept in the upstairs part of the bar with his girlfriend and band. He said he basically scrapes by, dirt poor but the love for the music drives him forward. Should've done a sit down interview now that I look back on it. Anyways, really down to earth guy, here's hoping he gets some financial security.

there are many shitty Kurt Vile songs

great for Matador though; Bank of America, Queens of Stone Age, Interpol box sets... what visionaries!

Love this song but the thought just popped into my mind about when people are singing a lyric and they say the word so weirdly cause they are purposely putting on a voice to sound better or thats the only way they sound good, He has that dylan wine here.. My example is when he says the word to be frank "i'm fried" and he says like im frieyha LOL I have been an avid musician for around 18 years and I myself have messed around impersonating singing styles I have heard but just never understood why some people have to like lazily sing a word real breathy and mumbly.
