Offerman in 'Somebody Up There Likes Me'
movie

Nick Offerman, who we recently interviewed, produced and stars in new comedy Somebody Up There Likes Me, which also features Keith Poulson, Jess Weixler, Stephanie Hunt, and Kevin Corrigan. The film also features a score by Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio. Here's the synopsis:

Parks and Recreation's Nick Offerman stars in this deadpan comedic fable with touches of the supernatural. In possession of a magical suitcase, Max (Poulson), his best friend Sal (Offerman), and the woman they both adore stumble through 35 years of unfulfilling entanglements. Winner of the Special Jury Prize at last year's Locarno Film Festival, this "highly original and delightfully unorthodox" (The Hollywood Reporter) ensemble piece features an original score by Vampire Weekend's Chris Baio, showcases stunning animated sequences by Bob Sabiston (A Scanner Darkly), stars Will & Grace's Megan Mullaly and character actor Marshall Bell (Total Recall), and boasts cameos by indie stalwarts Andrew Bujalski, Alex Ross Perry, Kate Lyn Sheil, and others.
You can watch the trailer below.

The film premieres in NYC this week at BAM Rose Cinemas (Mar 29--Apr 4). The 7 and 9:30 PM screenings on Friday, March 29 will also feature Q&A's with Offerman, Baio, Poulson and director Bob Byington. On Saturday, March 30, the 7 PM screening has a Q&A with Offerman and Byington, and the 9:30 with Offerman, Byington, and Poulson. Get your tickets now.

If it's not funny, it's not comedy. It's just sad.

"deadpan comedic" or in English *not funny*

The creepy guy from The Office and the creepy guy from Parks and Recreation star in a movie sure to make everyone uncomfortable and offer up a slight chuckle.

^ more uncomfortable than slight, like at Thanksgiving when you realize that your uncle may be drunk but he is also serious in wanting you to kiss Mr. Happy

"Klaus Kinski is a shithead."

Klaus didn't write this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2013 5:52 PM

@5:52 It is a Doug Loves Movies joke. Considering Klaus is Mr. Comedy around here I'm sure he would get it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2013 7:13 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty sure no one has ever claimed that someone else was a shithead before this shitty unfunny "deadpan comedic" thing came along. Nice try 7:13. Do keep coming back and trying agin. Broken clock, all that.

Don't forget about Sunday nights at Union Hall. Caroline always runs a great show.

Posted by JT | March 25, 2013 1:36 AM

um, 8:59, there was no claim of that being the first instance of anyone calling anyone else a shithead. It was a reference to a specific act of calling someone a shithead, one which was mentioned in the article. I don't see how this is so difficult to comprehend. Your major confusion seems to be with critiquing things of which you don't know, hence being a little lost in the woods there boyscout.

8:57 is so mad.
Why u mad bro?
Chill, take a deep breath.
It's Spring!
