Xeno & Oaklander @ final WIERD, 2/27/2013
Xeno & Oaklander

As discussed, WIERD has become Very Rare after the final night last Wednesday (2/28) featuring Xeno & Oaklander (read Josh Strawn's thoughts). We've now got a set of pictures from the WIERD's goodbye in this post.

Thankfully, the dark vibes will continue on Wednesdays at Home Sweet Home with the announcement of the appropriately named "Nothing Changes", a new party that will feature much of the same focus, musically. "Nothing Changes" kicks off with this week's FREE party (3/6) featuring Avana and Hi-Fi Hillary, with the rest of the month scheduled to feature Syb Vicious/Hi-Fi Hillary (3/13, FREE), Delphic Oracle + DJs (3/20, $5) and Azar Swan + DJs ($5, 3/27). Check out the flyer below alongside more pictures from the final WIERD (2/27).

Who is the guy who played with them at the end?

He goes by Epee Du Bois, another artist involved with the label. The three of them also performed together as Three To Forgotten in WIERD's earlier days.

Cheyney Thompson

Nothing Changes... because every band we book rips off obscure synthwave from 1983.

Normally it takes a few years for everyone to get nostalgic about something and try to bring it back from the dead. This is a new record and an all time low.

Let me break it down for you guys:

Wierd = Joy Division

Nothing Changes = New Order

(except Pieter is still alive.)

Yeah right, Jeralyn.

So one iconic night ends, and almost IMMEDIATELY after, the same cast and crew start a new party with an equally asinine name? What a joke.

I'm not sure if this is relevant to the discussion, but once I left a tub of hummus out overnight and the consistency changed from a smooth velvety paste into a crusty tan colored brick.

could have called it 'shock and denial'
