vampire weekend

The May 7 release date for Vampire Weekend's third album, Modern Vampires of the City, and today the band have released two songs from it to hear, the mildly blown-out "Diane Young," and the more mellow "Step." You can stream them both below. The two songs will be on either side of a 7" single to be released April 9 as well.

Vampire Weekend will also be hitting the road this spring -- some dates with Tanlines, some dates with Haim -- and while no hometown NYC show has been announced yet, all announced dates are listed below.

4:55 They did 3 sold out nights at radio city a few years ago, so my guess is either Barclays or a few nights in Central Park if it's during the summer.

"How the hell did they afford to burn that car?"

Those cars are old. They are probably clunkers with no reusable parts inside.

I like VW, but don't care about either song. Second one is ok as a B-side, but the first one leaves me cold.

You'll be hearing from my lawyers, VW.

I wish I had gone to a private university. As much good as public education offers, the level of education really doesn't compare. The postgraduate opportunities are much better, too.

^ Then you could crowbar references to Angkor Wat and Dar Es Salaam into indie rock songs to show how smart you are

Phenomenal new stuff. Nice job VW.

Contra was a definitely a bit lack-luster and contrived. This stuff sounds great.

My guess is Barclays as well. I mean if The National is doing it than of course they will be...
