As mentioned, long-running new wave vets The B-52s are coming to the NYC area for a show at The Capitol Theatre on June 6 (tickets). That show is part of a tour which has just been expanded to included another area date, this time happening in NYC on June 19 Roseland Ballroom. That show is with another '80s veteran, The Go-Gos, and tickets for that one go on Citi Cardmember presale today (3/5) at 10 AM with a general on-sale starting Friday (3/8) at noon. There's also a Live Nation/LN Mobile App presale starting Thursday (3/7) at 10 AM (anyone know the password?).

These shows will be the band's first NYC-area shows since drummer-turned-guitarist Keith Strickland has chosen to no longer tour (he'll continue to be in the band though). He left in December, and The B-52s last played NYC in August.

All upcoming date are listed, along with a message from Keith about his decision, below...

Dear friends,

I wanted to let you know that I will no longer be touring with the band. This has not been an easy decision for me to make, but it is the path I know in my heart I must follow.

I will continue to be in The B-52s - I will just not tour.

My barnstorming days have come to an end, but I wholeheartedly support Cindy, Fred and Kate's decision to continue.

It has been an amazing journey and I'm amazed at all that we have accomplished as a band over the past thirty-five years. I'm grateful for the music Ricky, Cindy, Fred, Kate and myself have created together. I'm thankful for the many opportunities I've had to perform, and I'm filled with gratitude for your continued presence, love and support - together we made something wonderful happen.

Even though I will miss performing with the band and for you, I am looking forward to this new adventure.

Follow your bliss,

I'd even let Freddy watch me romp with Cindy and Kate. he could cheer me on and shake maracas to the rhythm of my boogie.
