The Drowners released EP, play NYC tonight (streams, video)

Drowners

You may remember Brooklyn outfit The Drowners who we profiled last year. The band have since signed to Birthday Records, the label founded by onetime Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson. Birthday just released The Drowners debut EP, Between Us Girls, and you can stream it below via Spotify. The EP contains a rerecorded version of “Long Hair,” which was in our original post. Depsite taking their name from Suede’s debut single, the band owe more to the crop of bands that popped up in the wake of The Libertines, with maybe a little of the Smiths élan in there too. (While they’re based here, frontman Matt Hitt is from Wales.) Also below is a video for the EP’s “You’ve Got It All Wrong.”

The Drowners play NYC tonight (3/29) at Knitting Factory with Rewards. It’s a late show, doors at midnight and tickets ($5) are still available.
