The Flaming Lips at Jones Beach in 2011 (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips, who just expanded their tour (it hits the NYC-area on 5/16 at Wellmont Theatre), have finally officially revealed the first taste of their new album, The Terror, which comes out on April 2 via Warner Brothers. NPR is streaming the album's opening song, "Look... The Sun Is Rising," so head to their site to hear that.

As mentioned, the Flaming Lips tour includes SXSW, and while they're there, they'll be premiering Wayne Coyne's iPhone-shot film. The band will also be on the Late Show with David Letterman on April 3.

They've long paid their dues. They can do whatever the fuck they want at this point.

10 years of paying dues followed by almost 20 years of sesame street bullshit.

Flaming Lips made some of my favorite albums of all time, but the music has seemed secondary to the media circus for a while now.
