The Grin & The Chin
Jimmy Fallon & Jay Leno
After 40 years on the left coast, The Tonight Show is reportedly on its way back to NYC:

A plan is in the works to bring NBC's "Tonight" show back to New York.

While the network has yet to complete a deal, it has made a commitment to Jimmy Fallon, the current host of its "Late Night" program, to have him succeed Jay Leno as the next host of "Tonight,'' according to several senior television executives involved in the decision. The show would move from Burbank, Calif., back to New York, where it first started in 1954 with Steve Allen as host. -[NY Times]

The plan is to bring the show back to the East Coast by Fall 2014 at the latest, pending the resignation of Jay Leno and his subsequent second thoughts, naturally. NBC has already started work on a new studio in 30 Rockefeller Plaza which is part of an overhaul of the building being done by KableTown Comcast, which this week completed a full takeover of NBC Universal.

They should hire Howard Stern so he can fuck Johnny Carsons skull on national television.

Ah, love the 30 Rock reference.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 5:01 PM

Agreed with 4:56...

Now, why would NBC stick with Jay Leno in the early 90s when his ratings suck, prove to everyone they were right when he ended up beating Letterman, then totally bail on Conan in similar circumstances a few years later... and then, having that experience totally blow up in their faces, decide to go with the young new guy from the 12:35 show all over again? Will they ditch Fallon after a few months as host of the Tonight Show too?

Jay Leno is a cunt

late night tv is filled with hacks. give the job to stern when he kisses radio goodbye.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 5:17 PM

Stern's NOT a hack? Has he done anything relevant this century?

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 5:22 PM

David Letterman > Jimmy Fallon > Jay Leno > Conan Obrian > that English dude

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 5:22 PM

Letterman has not been funny since he left NBC. 5:22 must be smoking some killer bud.

the dude is scottish, craig ferguson is his name, give the job to Craig Kilborn, or maybe do a 'replace the host' thing like they did before ferguson got his job, I remember Michael Ian Black and Meatloaf getting hot under the collar

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 5:54 PM

Craig Ferguson is actually the best of the bunch.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 6:11 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 7:15 PM

They would move the show to NY for Fallon, but they wouldn't do it for Conan when he took the job? What a bunch of dicks.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 7:28 PM

^^^ for. fucking. real.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 7:43 PM

team coco

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 8:12 PM

Conan sucks

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 8:37 PM

That's a good point about moving to NY for Jimmy, but not for Conan. It's just continued proof that NBC has no fucking clue what it's doing with its lineup. What they've been doing to their actual funny shows is pathetic (cutting off 30 Rock before it was ready to end, shafting Community at every turn, Parks & Rec constantly on the chopping block). They dont know what theyre doing with it shows.

They'll move it for Fallon now because Letterman may also retire within the next two years, and they 1) don't want CBS to steal Fallon so will give him what he wants and 2) whoever takes Letterman's slot (Ferguson, Conan, or whoever) will probably do so from LA. Stern takes Fallon's old slot, also from NY, but I see him having a more in-depth single interview show so it wouldn't pose a big problem in competing for guests.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 9:16 PM

would fallon's music booker move to the tonight show too, or would he be stuck with whoever took over for fallon?

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 9:17 PM

Ferguson is by far the best on TV now. Conan's been on a long downward spiral. Fallon has always been an embarrassment.

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 9:54 PM

conan ruined himself when he left nbc

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 10:24 PM

9:04: Creative wanted to end 30 Rock (albeit with a slightly longer final season), Parks and Rec hasn't been on the chopping block for a while, Community is terrible now and deserves the shaft, although that's probably because NBC shafted them for the prior three seasons, also hummus daft punk do you like my 8.5 inches?

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 10:28 PM

If the show does move back to NYC the job should only go to Colin Quinn

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2013 11:35 PM

when are these two come out of the closet?

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2013 9:04 AM

If/When Jimmy moves, how about giving the 12:35 spot to Tina Fey?

Posted by Wallis | March 21, 2013 9:06 AM

Loved 30 Rock but it was time for it to end. Wait, why are we talking about this?

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2013 9:54 AM

Conan was the best from like 98-2008. I would watch him all the time. He is a shell of his former self on TBS. Does late night tv even matter anymore?

Posted by AnonHUMMUS | March 21, 2013 10:35 AM

Further proof that NBC is in complete and total disarray. Also, I agree that Stern is the best celebrity interview around but I don't see him doing well with the canned 8 minutes that late night shows provide. He needs an hour to really get them.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2013 10:36 AM

904, i bet nobody you knew voted for Nixon...so how'd he win? community got abysmal ratings, i love the show but NBC doesn't just cater to us, doesn't help that cbs decided to put big bang against it, that is what people in this country choose to watch, big bang, what're ya gonna do? 30 rock was overrated, parks and rec was terrible at first then really grew into its own (and then going back, knowing how the characters develop made it so the earlier episodes could be appreciated much more)

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2013 11:20 AM

Get mark maron and give him two hours.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2013 1:33 PM

James Murphy should take over.

Posted by Anonymous | March 21, 2013 1:53 PM

Ha ha ha ha I love these suggestions. It's good to see that unemployment has not taken the sense of humor away from you all.
