No one is getting tickets to YYYs.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:20 AM

Except the unemployed losers in line on Houston.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:21 AM

Wait for the Barclays show when tickets are 20$ d.o.s.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:26 AM

I'm sure the YYY's have about 100-150 tickets available for the public. Friends and press get the rest.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:30 AM

It was relatively easy to get tix for the presale on Wednesday. Glad BV decided not to post that info.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:31 AM

I'm going to try at noon, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:42 AM

i'm sure this will be will call only tickets...so hopefully the scalpers don't ruin this...

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:50 AM

Since there are people waiting in line at Mercury Lounge who haven't been told otherwise, there is no will-call only policy for YYYs.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 11:55 AM

sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:01 PM

Pointless and predictable.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:02 PM

fucking A

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:02 PM

Keep checking back
FYI: New tickets often become available for purchase as the event date nears.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:03 PM

that was ridiculous, i was on at the stroke of 12, refreshed the page and nothing. what frickin' tickets did they sell?

Posted by brownman | March 1, 2013 12:04 PM

damnit! sold out

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:04 PM

How come it wasn't difficult to pull tickets when they played Maxwell's and the Bowery after Show yr Bones came out?!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:04 PM

Got two YYYs tickets but this was the first Ticketmaster experience I've had in the past three to six months that wasn't a total clusterfuck so I'm surprised I got them.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:04 PM

They weren't fashionable then.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:05 PM

Got four.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:05 PM

sold out in one minute? not surprising but still annoying.

Posted by i hate fucking captchas | March 1, 2013 12:06 PM

again the Band (YYYs) and the management have to take responsibility on this - blaming ticketmaster and scalpers is too easy. this was a scam - no way this sold out in 1 minute.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:07 PM

Went from 30 tickets on stubhub to 90 tickets in two minutes. This should've been will-call only.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:08 PM

Webster Hall has a 1,500 capacity...so they sold more than 1,000 tickets in less than 1 minute. really? why not be transparent and say how many tickets was put on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:09 PM

yes, fuck Ticketmaster and shame on YYY's management but also...do the (sorta) math.

Webster Hall capacity = 1,500
NYC Population = 8 million
YYY fans = way the fuck more than 1,500 people in the NYC area.

Chances of getting a ticket = fuckall.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:12 PM

If the YYYs gave half a fuck they would have made this will call only. Save the surprises for flaming on their facebook page because you all should have seen this coming.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:13 PM

how did the presale work earlier this week? I went via their website and just got directed to gay ticketmaster

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:14 PM

why these things keep on happening and nobody does anything? this guys (YYYs, LCD, Strokes etc.) started at DIY venues and now became Emerson, Lake and Powell, Yes, Pink Floyd....Dinosaurs - doing shows for Bankers/Wankers, Dentists and Accountants. I'm giving up after this one and not going to any show on a corporate larger venue than Bowery.

also YYYs: take responsibility on this. also, please change that album cover. is beyond horrible.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:14 PM

See you guys at the Braclays center for $10

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:15 PM

I got 2 no problem...... Will hold on to them if they announce another show I will get rid of these.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:16 PM

12:12 - it's about system capacity/bandwidth and the amount of tickets actually put on sale not the # of fans. but yes, the band has to take responsibility on this. but I'm guessing they're probably sleeping at the Four Seasons, or having a champagne and strawberry brunch and discussing with their PR team how "awesome" was their choice of album cover and a Morning Show appearance.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:22 PM

i remember that YYY benefit at brooklyn bowl less than a year ago that had tix available for hours. what changed? oh ya, pitchfork.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:24 PM

are you people really complaining because you did not get tickets for a show in NYC?
how old are you? 14?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:26 PM

Pretty much anything connected with Pitchfork is going to bring out idiots. Solution: avoid anything having any connection to Pitchfork. They're so far behind the curve at this point, you won't be missing much anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:27 PM

clearly 12:26 didn't get tickets

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:29 PM

12:26 - yes, we are. Music is important to some people. apparently not for you. fuck off.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:31 PM

I am 12:26 and I did not even try, but it amuses me to read comments from people complaining how they were not able to get tickets for a 1400 capacity venue in NYC
Everbody knows that supply and demand invites scalpers like flies, nothing new about this situation
Nobody is disputing it is wrong, but it is the reality and with TM selling the tickets to most of the shows happening nowadays this will never change

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:31 PM

Got 2. Sold on Stub Hub for $169 each and the prices are going up. Damn Should have waited. Face x 4.5 clearly wasn't enough!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:33 PM

@12:22, true about the amount of tickets being put out to fans but my point is, even if they reserved all 1,500 tickets for the public on-sale, odds are you're not walking away with a pair. It's a craps shoot. I'm with you though, they're probably sitting back giving each other hand jobs about the upcoming album (fuck that cover and fuck a goddamn choir on a YYY album).

Posted by 12:12 | March 1, 2013 12:34 PM

also, it is illegal under NY law now to have will call only shows at venues above a certain size. law changed last year - bowery presents no longer does that.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:35 PM

2nd show NOT ADDED!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:36 PM

everybody blames TM and scalpers - but at the end is a CHOICE of the Band - YYYs to work with them. They could slash a bit their profits and find ways to work independently. The Clash in the 80s decided to waive their royalties in order to sell records at a cheaper price to fans. but then, they're legendary....and have way better album covers, not to mention music.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:37 PM

this is a warm up show, they will announce a proper tour later
prepare for Barclays or some stupid place like Roseland

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:38 PM

FIVE NIGHTS AT TERMINAL 5

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:40 PM

@12:27 - If P4K is behind the curve, which it might be, what website is not behind the curve? TinyMixTapes perhaps? Looking for suggestions here.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:42 PM

You guys must be a real hoot at family gatherings and office parties. You must find a whole plethora of things to argue about in those surroundings.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:44 PM

No way the real show will be at roseland. Off to Atlantic Ave!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:45 PM

1235 pulled that outta his/her ass. will-call only is 100% legal, paperless ticketing is illegal. they are very different.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:47 PM

lots of people from Insurance Cos. heading after work for this show. welcome to your new demographics YYYs. sad ending for the Band - they were my last hope for NYC since the Strokes and Interpol went belly-up....apparently the only ones doing anything relevant now are Liars and it's not a coincidence that they move out of NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:48 PM

it was easier for me to get tickets for union pool than this...somethings wrong there.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:51 PM

4 nights at T5 or the faux-rena, aka Barclay's Center. all of which sound like an eh experience.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:51 PM

Getting tix to see them at both Union Pool (10x smaller) and BK Bowl (2x smaller) within the past 12 months was easier. Conclusion? YYY fans are special.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:53 PM

oh it's a warm-up? so then why not do it for free or for $5 at 285 kent? something's really wrong here.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:55 PM

this city is so f'ign over...just look at the glass-walled condos lining the les....gonna be a bunch of bro-hos at this show. and basically so far we've only heard from about 2 commenters who got tix...bs/business as usual

Posted by nyc born n bred | March 1, 2013 12:55 PM

"this city is so f'ign over...just look at the glass-walled condos lining the les...."

hahahahahahahahahaha keep it in yr moleskine

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:57 PM

12:57 Didn't get tickets/Just got off the plane from Iowa.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 12:59 PM

Wait did people get shut out? Because I went on my computer at 12:02 and still got tickets....

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:00 PM

Webster capacity is 1200 only, not 1500.

And this whole topic is old and dated, sounds like BV of five six years ago.

Posted by ME | March 1, 2013 1:01 PM

"lots of people from Insurance Cos. heading after work for this show. welcome to your new demographics YYYs. sad ending for the Band - they were my last hope for NYC since the Strokes and Interpol went belly-up....apparently the only ones doing anything relevant now are Liars and it's not a coincidence that they move out of NYC."

I love how whenever a band plays a place bigger than, say, Union Pool or whatever everyone assumes their audience is made made up of bankers and insurance company people. We go through this on this site EVERY time some band does an underplay. Supply was less than demand.

Still should have been will call only though....

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:04 PM

@1:01 it may be old but it keeps on happening. The only way to stop it is making the artist responsible - they have choices and should respect their fans.I gave up on the YYYs.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:07 PM

I saw YYYs during Fever to Tell days. Those shows were amazing!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:12 PM

1:07 it's a "warm up show", a completely legit choice. When tour is announced a bigger venue would give everyone a chance to see this somewhat boring band.

So Depeche Mode, Morrissey and NIN were wrong to play 575 capacity bowery ballroom?
I get it when you bitch on LCD at the 20,000 capacity garden, but what is it here to complain about?

Posted by ME | March 1, 2013 1:13 PM

@1:04 - supply will always be less than demand here but (i) there's something wrong here - more than 1000 tickets sold in less than a minute and (ii) the YYYs management should have predicted that this would happen and look for better/more ethical ways of selling tickets - at the very least with will call only.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:14 PM

I don't know if 12:14 was answered yet. The presale happened at 10 a.m. on Wednesday through the band's website (via Crowdsurge). Tix sold out immediately and the link was changed to TM once they ran out.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:17 PM

Let's start our own band.

== The BV Comments ==

First show at Union Pool.

Are you in?!!

Tell me your Role in this phenom.

Hummus? 7.5 inches? Clownshit? Trustfund 5?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:18 PM

If I didn't fuck up and get presale (will call only) I'd gladly trade my YYY'S tix for a couple of D'Angelo's. Win some, lose some.

Posted by Doc | March 1, 2013 1:33 PM

My friend asked me if her order should be fine. She bought 2 tixs during presale via crowdsurge and 2 tixs today through Ticketmaster. She's fine right?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:50 PM

just got 2 tix!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:52 PM

@150 no, they'll cancel her 2nd pair of tix she got through TM. and i'll grab em up

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:56 PM

@156 Why would they cancel her order? It's through a different company and Crowdsurge is not affiliated with Ticketmaster.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 1:59 PM

@159 bc the show is 2-ticket limit per household, regardless of ticketing company (plus crowdsurge and ticketmaster are workign together, which is why you'll pick up at TM ticket at wil-call). once they realize she purchased 4 tickets, they will cancel 2 of them and give her a refund.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:02 PM

CrowdSurge was established in January 2008 to provide white-label e-commerce software, hardware, and marketing solutions to artists, brands, promoters, and venues, enabling them to sell tickets directly to fans.

Headquartered in London, and strategically positioned around the world, CrowdSurge has a growing track record of successful global initiatives for artists, brands, promoters, and venues, closing the gap between rights holders and their customers.

Although the CrowdSurge platform is used to power many artist, brand, promoter and venue online properties, CrowdSurge.com was set up as a general sale environment to offer extra reach, marketing and support.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:04 PM

@159 You should be fine. I bought tickets to Arcade Fire MSG/Jack White Radio City presale tickets through Crowdsurge and bought more tickets through Ticketmaster when it went on sale. Never got anything cancelled. 202 is trying to scare you!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:07 PM

@204 actually making me explain this shit...

when you order tickets through crowdsurge.com, the will-call only tickets you pick up are TICKETMASTER tickets. This is because Ticketmaster controls all ticket production/numbering,etc. - they just don't control all distribution; this is why crowdsurge handles the presale. At the end of the day, however, everythign is being run through TM's system, and everyone is getting TM tickets, so the ticket limit still applies regardless of how you bought your tickets.

Like when I bought 4 radiohead tickets through WASTE presale and then bought another 4 during the Ticketmaster public onsale, and they cancelled my Ticketmaster public onsale tickets.

I guarantee they will cancel your other two tickets, so plan around that.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:07 PM

wait, people think this sold out bc of pitchfork? haven't the yyy's been pretty big for years? i saw them at the black cat in 2003 haha, i kept yelling mosquito

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:08 PM

i still do not understand why people are so angry that they did not get tickets
it was expected, venue is small, and apparently enough people in nyc still care about YYY to buy them
this happens with all popular band playing small club venues, but there is more to life than a show, no?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:09 PM

i still do not understand why people are so angry that they did not get tickets considering they have played smaller venues twice within the past 300 days.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:11 PM

@207 yeah, but did the total number of tickets you bought exceed the ticket limit as stated on TM/presale pages? that's when you get your tickets cancelled.

not trying to lie/scare anyone; i don't really have any incentive/benefit to/from lying about this.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:13 PM

If you bought 2 tix on CrowdSurge and 2 tix on Ticketmaster, you're fine. End of story.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:16 PM

207 must feel like an idiot writing that whole story haha.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:20 PM

fuck the YYYs. and rotten eggs on Nick Zinner the next time he tries to hang around the LES or Brooklyn. Move to the Upper East Side.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:24 PM

how about 3 nights at 285 Kent at $5 with will call only. this is a legit way to deal with fans not some fucking corporate ticketmaster scam at Webster Hall. and crowdsurge is BS.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:27 PM

So is there an amateur (and likely unemployed) wannabe scalper out there who got 2 through the presale, 2 through Ticketmaster, then 2 at the Mercury Lounge box office? Fess up.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:28 PM

"So is there an amateur (and likely unemployed) wannabe scalper out there who got 2 through the presale, 2 through Ticketmaster, then 2 at the Mercury Lounge box office? Fess up."

that person sounds like neither an amateur nor a wannabe.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:33 PM

Wahhhhh! I didn't get tix! So you're mad at the band? Why? There was a pre-sale. And there is the secondary market. No? Then go see bands that are not so popular. That was easy.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:37 PM

207 might actually be right. I think the last time Radiohead cme through, the ticket limit was 4. If he got 4 through the pre-sale and 4 through public sale, he ordered 8, exceeding the ticket limit, thus causing 4 to get canceled.

If the crowdsurge/TM person got 2 & 2 and there was a 2 ticket limit, then it's possible 2 may get canceled.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:39 PM

@239 yes, i was telling the truth about my radiohead story. i don't know what would ever motivate me to make up that story.

anyway, good luck with your YYY tix i suppose - you have 2 tix regardless so you'll have a good time.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:41 PM

If you think these were hard to get wait until the Bowie tickets go on sale next week.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:41 PM

@2:37 this is not a "mad cause I didn't get what I wanted" thing - the whole process was fucked up, even the pre-sale. and yes, unfortunately most people had the impression that the YYYs were different from Maroon 5. not anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:48 PM

Hey, Radiohead tix story dude - were all 8 of those tickets will-call only?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:53 PM

saw them open for Devo @ summer stage in the rain... that didn't stop Karen O who was spinning on her back and completely unhinged... great show...

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 2:58 PM

241pm?! Bowie tickets?! Where?!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:05 PM

@2:58...YYYs and Devo? this was 2004 - nearly 10 years ago. now they're like Genesis (with Phil Collins fronting it...). have you seen the new record cover?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:09 PM

2:48 What, aside from you not getting tickets, was fucked up about the process?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:09 PM

just wait until Blur plays NYC

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:15 PM

this is very silly to be angry about. let me break it down for you.
bands play shows to make money. this a very popular band playing a very small show. certain very popular bands care about who ends up buying the tickets, most don't. they yyys are one of the ones who don't. case in point, you wanna go? buy your way in.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:18 PM

Which of these ticket sales had the most insufferable commenters?

YYYs @ Webster
Kraftwerk @ MoMA
Radiohead @ Roseland
LCD @ MSG
Other

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:21 PM

@3:09 do you work for the YYYs or Ticketmaster?
Did you read the almost 100 comments here?

If you got your tickets and you're happy with the whole situation good for you but if you're a regular music fan and go to concerts frequently I found it unbelievable that you think the whole process can't be better.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:21 PM

Good luck getting into mbv, the knife, nin, bowie, blur. Thought we'd be used to this by now.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:26 PM

Again, what aside from 100 misinformed comments, makes this process fucked up?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:33 PM

3:21 - Regular music fans who go to concerts frequently know that this "no more tickets after 1 minute" stuff happens all the time. Pulling tickets for popular "indie" shows in NYC is a crapshoot when dealing with online sales. Unless you're unemployed or don't work on Fridays, your best bet for Bowery Presents shows will always be at the Mercury Lounge box office.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:34 PM

(i)more than 1,000 tickets sold in less than a minute? not possible (bandwidth/system) either they're holding tickets or directing it to stubhub, (ii) why not make this will call only to avoid scalpers? costly, yes but do-able, (iii) why work with ticketmaster and webster hall? this NYC - there's tons of alternative venues and different ways to managing/selling tickets. In the end @3:18 is right: "certain very popular bands care about who ends up buying the tickets, most don't. they yyys are one of the ones who don't."....

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:37 PM

(i) Very possible. You realize Ticketmaster services the entire world, right? That's a pretty large market. (ii) will call only is illegal in NYS. (iii)Remember when Kraftwerk played that alternative venue? that worked out well for everyone right?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:40 PM

@337

(i). that has been possible since probably 10 years ago; read a tech blog. the same way that google manages to process millions of searches a second. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY.

(ii). the entire fan club presale was will-call only, join the YYY fan club if you have such a hard-on for them. i did and easily got a pair

(iii). there are no alternative venues outside of TM/livenation that can house over 1,000 people while providing ample security and sound setup. Under 1,000 capacity is a different story.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:43 PM

"why work with ticketmaster and webster hall?"

$$$. But please feel free to list all the alternative venues and ticket sellers. I'm curious as to what you come up with.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:44 PM

ALL IN ALL

the process wasn't messed up at all. sure, they could've done all will-call but having a fan club will-call only presale was a very kind thing of them to do, and it seems like they allocated about half the tickets to the presale given the amount available on stubhub. sorry if you didn't get tickets, you can't win everytime.

and no, i didn't get tickets. and i think it's completely fair.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:44 PM

karen's got blond hair...

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:45 PM

Will Call only is legal. Paperless is illegal. Surprisingly, there is a difference.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:47 PM

what 343 said

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:47 PM

@3:14 you're hopeless and have no idea of what you're talking about on tech or anything else - read this to start: http://blogs.reuters.com/felix-salmon/2011/02/19/the-dynamic-economics-of-lcd-soundsystem-tickets/

Do you really think Kraftwerk at MoMA was an alternative venue - how clueless can you be?
I prefer to believe that you're working for the YYYs....

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:48 PM

Have you read the law? There's no difference.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:48 PM

@347 someone should lawyer that. will-call only is legal, but will-call only with no re-entry - where you are forced to enter the venue immediately after picking up tickets at will-call (i.e. no time to hand off to a friend) - is essentially exactly the same as paperless and thus its legality should be questioned.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:50 PM

Will Call only allows for tickets to be transferred. Paperless doesn't. There is a difference.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:52 PM

it's an industry/mafia show... do you really wanna party with those creeps? there will be more shows and who wants to see a sunday show anyway?

@352 i know what you mean. but "will-call only" nowadays in NYC seems to very often mean "go into the depth of the venue, pick up your tickets, and immediately enter the venue, using at least one of the tickets yourself" which is essentially the same as paperless.

it's just some BS grey area that venues are making so they can pull that extra $$ from paperless/will-call (since this always allows for them to sell over capacity bc people who can't make the show can't transfer their tix)

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:54 PM

3:48. I've forgotten more about ticketing than you've ever known. You can sit there and complain about how "fucked up" this process was but that the end of the day it's just sour grapes you fucking crybaby. Eat a dick. I'm done.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:55 PM

"Will-Call only, non-transferable. Must enter venue upon receipt of tickets" should be illegal. That is basically a loophole to paperless ticketing that happens all the time at the in-demand NYC shows.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:56 PM

the whole process was manipulated to create buzz and demand for the larger shows that will come.
There are always alternatives to venues and how to ticket it. but it takes time, brainpower and willing to give up a bit of profits to find it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 3:58 PM

"Which of these ticket sales had the most insufferable commenters?

YYYs @ Webster
Kraftwerk @ MoMA
Radiohead @ Roseland
LCD @ MSG
Other"

THIS post. Because unlike the others, where people had some sort of legitimate reason to complain (except maybe Radiohead at Roseland which was handled pretty well), there is no reason to complain here. More or less a flawless execution of ticket selling model.

Kraftwerk was Showclix's fault, they even admitted it. They totally crashed, and the people who got tickets were just randomly being picked - queue didn't matter.

LCD at MSG was LCD's fault, because they held back like 12,000 tickets from teh initial onsale which were released a month or two later after the T5 dates sold out becuase they moved some speakers or some crap.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:00 PM

for the YYYs management/PR who's apparently handling the comments now.why not make 3-5 shows on a smaller venue in Brooklyn? 285 kent has not ample security and sound set?can't you find a large loft in bushwick? there's plenty of it. also remember when the YYYs played at the car parking lot near Diner? wasn't the sound set up ok, then....?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:04 PM

I am dissapointed nobody even mentioned the Wonder Twins in this thread

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:06 PM

now I get the new (horrendous) record cover. the Baby represents the fans and the "mosquito" are the YYYs, Ticketmaster and the management.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:06 PM

hey genius at 404, no one tied to the YYYs is on this comment board. it's just rational-minded people trying to calm you down and stop you from maniacally screaming "CONSPIRACY" because you didn't get tickets to an extremely in demand show.

if they did 3-5 shows at 285 kent you still wouldn't have gotten tickets, because you don't have what it takes. that's why you didn't get tickets this time.

work on your captcha entering or something instead of spending all day whining.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:07 PM

I hope the Knife plays at least Roseland, would be totally wrong otherwise

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:08 PM

@4:07. oh, now I get it. thank you.
frat boys working for the YYYs? how low can a band go?

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:19 PM

I'm confused. Why exactly should will-call only be illegal? Unless you're a scalper, in which case I can see your opposition.

I think all small venue shows should be will-call only. People who REALLY want to go and make some money for a college kid can overpay for the +1. Everyone wins.

Btw, perhaps I'm misremembering, but wasn't the entire Jack White AmEx Unstaged Show at WH will-call only (or was it just the Vault tickets)?

Also weren't the recent Radiohead shows at Prudential Center will call only? I distinctly recall having an ID or credit card scanned and getting a ticket printed out on the spot. I thought that was a rather fair way of doing it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:20 PM

The YYY's just posted the following on FB:

HEYYY NY!

we know a lot of you were unable to get your hands on tickets for webster hall this morning. all measures are in place to make sure tickets don’t fall into the hands of scalpers - any multiple orders will be canceled out to ensure that no one person has more than two tickets.....so be very wary of anyone on stubhub claiming to have more than 2!

keep checking back for any news on tickets being released closer to the show. we'll anncounce that on FB and assign a fan only password to purchase.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:21 PM

@421 so yeah, chick who bought 2 through presale and 2 through reg onsale; they talkin to you.

sincerely,
the guy who didn't make up his story about radiohead tickets getting cancelled

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:32 PM

this can be translated as:

HEYYY NY!

any other scalpers besides Ticketmaster's approved ones can only get 2 tickets to sell.

we're working closely with ticketmaster, fox news, enron and dick cheney to make sure tickets don't fall into the hands of the wrong scalpers.

keep checking back you suckers, there's more for you - when we announced that we we're working with James Murphy (LCD) was on how to con fans with tickets, not music.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 4:35 PM

Don't see the big deal. Nothing worst than Webster Packed to the brim.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 5:24 PM

"Don't see the big deal. Nothing worst than Webster Packed to the brim."

Terminal 5 at any capacity.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 5:32 PM

Someone slap me and tell me this thread is a joke, right? This is the YYY's we are talking about? Did i go to sleep last night and time warp back a couple of years ago when this band was good and of the moment? How old are the lot of you making all these angry comments? If any of you are over the age of 19 please know you are way outdated and total idiots.

SMH, anyone still gives this much of a shit about this band especially after hearing that new song.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 5:58 PM

finally someone said it @5:58. I blame the fact that there's no decent concerts in the coming weeks. The YYYs are as important as Mike and the Mechanics. Have fun. also YYYs - how about hiring someone with spellchecker for the FB posts? and when you say "news on tickets being released closer to the show" are you admitting that you hold on selling tickets to create more hype for the show. sad.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 6:35 PM

this is not about the YYYs anymore is about fans getting fucked over and over for bands that pose as "alternatives/indies" but are the same shit as Maroon 5.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 6:41 PM

I'm so gonna write about this in my blog

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 7:08 PM

The second you see it's Bowery Presents you should know the fix is in - just like with the Murphy/LCD sale. The question remains of how much the acts are aware of what Bowery is doing (I think James Murphy was very aware), but it's become very clear to any observant fan that Bowery Presents creates instant fake sellouts for shows where they think this will work, then scalps their own tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 7:19 PM

I gotta laugh. The show will be sold out, The venue will be full. Stop your whining. Bowery always holds some tix for the day of the show. I've grabbed tix that way numerous times.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 7:26 PM

635 "The YYYs are as important as Mike and the Mechanics." What an idiotic analogy. Who knows? Maybe they have yet to put out their best music yet. I loved their last one and look forward to the next one. They area fun band and from NYC to boot. Important or not, they have a lot of fans. If they aren't considered hip anymore, I consider that a good thing.

Fever to Tell is a legit great album (as are the EPs that came before it); Show Your Bones is very solid. It's Blitz is just ok. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that the YYY's have been on slow but steady downward decline.

I have not heard the album, but based on the single I would say that trend is continuing. That said, I'm pumped to be going to the show, if for no other reason than hoping they'll play a decent amount of the older stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 8:16 PM

It amazes me what a bunch of cry babies people are these days. Stop blaming everyone saying there is some type of conspiracy against you. Some of you act like the tickets are going to go to waste. Someone will be using them. Face it - they got popular. They are not your local hipster band anymore. They haven't been for a while. Everyone knows they will be back to play larger venues. If you really want to go to this gig just fork up some dough or just shut up!

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 9:28 PM

The funniest thing is that even though there are a few vocal individuals who are calling for others not to buy from scalpers or StubHub, there will always be a desperate idiot or thirty who, no matter what, MUST attend this show and willingly cave to the secondary market's prices. Don't blame the resellers - blame those who have more money than common sense that encourage the ridiculous X-times face value tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | March 1, 2013 9:45 PM

Best part of all of this is going to be the morning after when everyone that went comes back crying that they only played for 45 minutes.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 9:16 AM

so who is this guy Rodriguez selling out all those shows...

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 10:58 AM

VICE apparently is sending photographers to this concert to get more "DON'T" pictures.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 11:01 AM

why don't they change the venue to TERMINAL 5 and sell more tickets or simply stop the bullshit and announce the additional shows? I mean after that horrible album cover and having fucked their fans here what's the downside? upsetting ticketmaster and bowery presents?

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 11:06 AM

Bowery Presents owns Terminal 5 so moving venues wouldn't upset them one bit. They'd make more money if they did move the show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 11:16 AM

listen to better music and you won't have this problem

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 11:37 AM

Wait, people are unironically demanding shows at Terminal 5?

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 11:52 AM

1106 Selling out a show is fucking their fans? Interesting logic. Move the show to T5? Yeah, great idea.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 1:13 PM

@1:13 yes, it is. why not make the whole show will call only and why not sell all tickets now - instead of manipulating the whole shit to create "buzz" for the next big shows?

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 1:27 PM

Again, people, we are talking about the YYY's. This is fucking stupid. This band sucks now. This is like arguing over the quality of a steak at Denny's

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 1:44 PM

Saw them in a Cadillac (i think?) commercial last night!

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 2:01 PM

558, lol way outdated, peddle ur bitchy novel elsewhere

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 2:40 PM

This band being way outdated is completely spot on.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 3:58 PM

it's been two days people... give it a rest...

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 4:11 PM

the band is still great. too many hipsters are mad at how popular they are

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 4:49 PM

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!

Posted by Inigo Montoya | March 2, 2013 5:49 PM

I don't know quite how else to break this news but if you are rushing for YYY tix in 2013 you're kinda 10 years behind the curve.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 6:28 PM

Will call only solves nothing. When NIN did it the scalper's charged double the price for one ticket, walked you in, and then left. The only thing will call only will do is ensure the venue is at half capacity.

Posted by Anonymous | March 2, 2013 6:42 PM

Hope they're better than the first time I suffered thru their overrated bullshit.

I recall the singer fucking up a lot and laughing and starting over.

I've seen high school bands play better.

Posted by Anonymous | March 30, 2014 9:19 PM
