watch Washed Out play "Olivia" in the Moog Sound Lab

The Moog Sound Lab is a video series where bands and artists are invited to perform in the Moog Music factory in Asheville, North Carolina. With an arsenal of Moog equipment at their disposal, the musicians offer radically new takes on their material.

The first in the series was Toro Y Moi. Now here’s Washed Out, who revamp “Olivia,” a song that was originally on main man Ernest Greene’s first cassette release, High Times. Its ’80s electro vibe gives way to much more lush, transportive textures here thanks to an arpeggiated riff using Moog’s Little Phatty, and a gurgling low end courtesy of the Minitaur Analog Bass Synthesizer.
