Austra @ BVSXSW 2013 (more by Kevin Figueroa)

Austra's new album, Olympia, isn't out for another two months (6/18) but folks who are in NYC can get a very early legal listen tonight (4/10) at an official listening party at Chinatown club Le Baron. The event is free and after the album is played in full there will be DJ sets by Austra's Katie Stelmanis and Maya Postepski. Flyer for tonight's event is below along with the few upcoming tour dates Austra has scheduled. Those dates include Music Hall of Williamsburg which is now being opened by Mozart's Sister who comes to NYC herself later this month.

Meanwhile, if you're out looking for exclusives on Record Store Day (4/20), keep an eye out for a 12" titled "Mayan Drums," which is a collaboration between Austra and German electro singer Gina X.

Postepski, who just launched her own solo project, Princess Century, remixed Heidi Mortenson's track "Dele Af Kroppen" and you can stream that below.

I loved Austra when I saw them opening for The XX last January, but I was all over the "Mayan Drums" 12" on RSD13! I cannot believe that Gina X has recorded for the first time in 29 years! I have my copy of the record, but am awaiting a new stylus for my turntable. Gina X could have recorded with Van Halen… and I still would have bought it!

wow, definitely liking the direction of this, sounds more interesting than the first record (which was already interesting!)
