Beck at Outside Lands 2012 (more by Amoreena Lucero)
Beck

We just mentioned that Beck is going on a solo acoustic tour this Summer which hits NYC on August 4 at Prospect Park (tickets go on sale 5/10). But what we didn't realize at the time is that Beck was also added to the Jones Beach (7/27) stop on Bob Dylan's tour. That's one of three NYC-area dates on that tour, and it's the show that My Morning Jacket isn't playing. Wilco and Ryan Bingham are both on it though. Tickets for the Jones Beach show go on sale Saturday (5/4) at 10 AM with a bobdylan.com presale starting Tuesday (4/30) at 10 AM and a Citi Cardmember presale starting Thursday (5/2) at 10 AM.

Updated Beck dates are listed below...

---

Beck -- 2013 Tour Dates
05/19 Santa Cruz, CA Rio Theatre
07/02 Paris, France Days Off Festival
07/27 Wantagh, NY Americanarama Festival *

08/02 Boston, MA Bank of America Pavilion

All they have to do is drop the old geezer off the bill and this will be a great show!

Bob Dylan is the worst act on this bill. Beck/Wilco is a solid show.

Solo acoustic Beck? Y'all have a hankering for that?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 2:49 PM

I might not use the term "hankering", but seeing Beck perform an acoustic show in either Prospect Park or on a bill with Wilco and Bob Dylan sounds like an enjoyable evening and I'm not sure your doubts regarding us "alls" interest in attending are productive or necessary.

Acoustic Beck would be good in a club. Prospect park? I don't know about that.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:11 PM

None of us know about that because he hasn't done it yet. So this seems to present two respectable and sensible options:

a) go to the show and find out if it's an engaging, entertaining, and quality concert worth the time and money.

b) do not go to the show

You seem to have major doubts regarding his ability to pull off a worthwhile acoustic concert in this venue so I guess you'll be taking option "b" and doing something else that evening. Hope you have fun and good luck!

Beck's Facebook thing says the Prospect Park show will be full band, not solo acoustic.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 11:37 PM

Each audience member will be handed a packet of sheet music upon entrance and Beck and audience will stare at each other in silence.

update from his fb page:

We wanted clear up any confusion about Beck's upcoming run on the east coast.
The sets at AmericanaramA and Newport are stripped down acoustic shows.
The Brooklyn and Boston shows are full band electric shows.
NONE of the shows are solo.

I'm going to the Jones Beach show with a friend and we are renting a Zipcar. Does anyone who is going to the Zipcar want to pitch in and share the rental cost? There would be three available seats. $25 per person gets a round trip ride from Brooklyn, picking up the car near the Brooklyn Academy of Music. I pledge to be designated driver (apparently they don't sell beer or wine at Jones Beach anyway?) and will not leave until show is over. I'm a very normal and sane person, so you can trust me. I just want to carpool because 1) better for trees and 2) want to defray cost of Zipcar. Email me!
