Beck @ Outside Lands Festival 2013 (more by Amoreena Lucero)

As mentioned, Beck will be on the East Coast this summer, playing a special acoustic set at the Newport Folk Festival (tickets). He'll also play few other shows in the area, including a Celebrate Brooklyn! show in Prospect Park on August 4. Tickets to the Brooklyn show go on sale Friday, May 10.

UPDATE: Beck was also added to Bob Dylan and Wilco's Jones Beach show.

No word on a new Beck album, but he did release that Song Reader sheet-music-only album back in December. Maybe he'll play some of those. All Beck tour dates are listed below.

But really though, besides trolling, you should include that this is also an acoustic one."Beck will be playing solo acoustic shows this summer: – Tuesday, July 30 – Portland, ME – State Theatre – Friday, August 2 – Boston, MA – Bank of America Pavilion – Sunday, August 4 – Brooklyn, NY – Prospect Park Bandshell (Celebrate Brooklyn)"

Yes.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:08 PM

Am I allowed to like Beck?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:08 PM

Sea Change was his last good album.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:09 PM

Mehck

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:09 PM

The free shows start next week with Big Sam's Funky Nation, I believe... so why haven't they announced the lineup for the summer yet?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:10 PM

His first NYC show in ages and it's acoustic? So lame.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:12 PM

Awfully big place for a Beck solo acoustic show.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:14 PM

Super lame that it's acoustic. Not worth going now.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:18 PM

@12:12

He closed out Gov Ball last summer

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:19 PM

12:19 that does not count at all.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:21 PM

A Beck solo acoustic show would be cool at like...Webster Hall.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:23 PM

huh...I think the opposite. Glad it's acoustic.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:24 PM

I actually rather see him acoustic..but not at that venue

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:25 PM

He was added to Dylan/Wilco at Jones Beach, too.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:28 PM

I wonder how far on The Bridge he is. Has he reached Operating Thetan Level III yet? Gotta make LRH proud and clear the planet.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:32 PM

Beck is back.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:43 PM

how could you possibly rather see him acoustic? that nixes like half his catalog.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 12:58 PM

@1206 would be cool if you were right braj

it's not acoustic you clowns, go look at this FB page

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:00 PM

12:58 Mutations, Sea Change and One Foot in The Grave are mostly if not all acoustic thats why!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:04 PM

Not everyone is on Facebook you clown!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:07 PM

Who cares if he is playing an acoustic guitar or an electric one. It is still a solo show and that is just not that great. Beck with the full band is when he comes alive.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:09 PM

@12:21

Sure does. Not his fault you were too lazy/broke to attend.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:13 PM

1:09 Beck had a band with him the last few times...in AC he had a band last year and it was billed as just Beck

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:16 PM

Last time Beck played at United Palace it was a lifeless and phoned-in.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:17 PM

"Who cares if he is playing an acoustic guitar or an electric one. It is still a solo show and that is just not that great. Beck with the full band is when he comes alive."

what the hell are you even talking about haha. pretty sure he's not just gonna be pulling a frank ocean, alone onstage crooning into a mic. pretty sure beck has never been billed as anything other than 'beck'

and a lot of people care if it's an acoustic set, because there are entire albums he can't perform acoustically, or at least not without sounding like a total joke.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:19 PM

Beck @ Alice Tully Hall was an incredible show.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:21 PM

Is this an instant sell-out or not? Can never tell with this guy.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:30 PM

Bicker bicker blah blah. I'm going.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:36 PM

His website lists all the dates as solo acoustic shows. That facebook page does not say anything different. Just does not specify some specific dates as "special acoustic set". Then it lists him joining the Bob Dylan tour for dates as solo acoustic set. My money is betting that the whole tour is just him solo acoustic.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:45 PM

I was at United Palace 1:17 and I agree yet his show at the Lowes in Jersey City was incredible..I think it was the crowd. MGMT opened the United show I remember

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:46 PM

Gov Ball was kinda phoned-in as well. So was Hammerstein '05, from what I recall.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:56 PM

@1:19

you're the joke.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 1:57 PM

^ BUUUUUURN!

Bummer, will be skipping then. Acoustic show at Prospect Park Bandshell? SUPER FUCKING LAME. Idiots will be talking all the way through.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 2:14 PM

I hope I'm wrong but he really seemed to have lost it over the last few albums & tours. I was disappointed at the United pace show in '08. He seemed to be going through the motions. He is usually entertaining acoustic by himself but of course we would all rather see him rock the house. I agree that Sea Change was his last great album and one of his best.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 2:53 PM

i saw him for the first time last summer and he was great. full band and then he did a few acoustic songs.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 2:57 PM

I'll take that bet; page me.

I saw Beck at the Loew's Jersey City on The Information tour & it was one of the best shows I've ever seen - tight, energetic band, great sound & he seemed to be having a good time. The United Palace show I saw when he toured for Modern Guilt, however, was complete shit - he had a different (far less competent) band & it was obvious he didn't want to be there. I'd be interested in seeing an acoustic Beck show but I'm sure the crowd will talk through the entire fucking thing...

Brooklyn show is electric/full band

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2013 10:06 AM

brooklyn show is acapella, he told me in a dream

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2013 10:11 AM

^^ Brooklyn show is definitely full band electric show. gonna be awesome outside in prospect park in the summer!

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2013 12:09 PM

Brooklyn show is a full band, electric show. Pre-sale just started.
he's playing acoustic with Dylan.
He is not solo in any of the shows.

Posted by Pete | April 30, 2013 12:18 PM

update from his fb page:

We wanted clear up any confusion about Beck's upcoming run on the east coast.
The sets at AmericanaramA and Newport are stripped down acoustic shows.
The Brooklyn and Boston shows are full band electric shows.
NONE of the shows are solo.

The Chorus of this song is like Luigi's special in Super Mario Smash Bros Brawl. Actually the other way around.
