How to Destroy Angels
How to Destroy Angels

How to destroy angels_ made their debut in the NYC area last night (4/28) at Wellmont Theatre as their tour made its way east after Coachella (they hit Chicago along the way too). Trent Reznor, for the most part, took a backseat during the show, letting his wife Mariqueen Maandig's sultry vocals take the spotlight. Though, really, they all took a backseat to Htda_'s elaborate stage setup that had the band playing the first part of their set behind a curtain of illuminated cords to dramatic visual effect. DIIV, who continue to tighten their live show, opened (and have done so the whole tour). Htda_ and DIIV play NYC proper tonight (4/29) at the legendary Apollo Theatre, which is sold out.

Trent is a lucky man...holy cow his wife is gorgeous.

But can Mrs. Reznor sing live? Yoko Ono (Mrs. John Lennon) was hot when she was younger, but we know what her singing voice turned out to be. :/

$35/$40 for a t-shirt?! Seriously?

What a douche.

It's great that even on a small venue tour, he still spent some money on the production. Looks great. Sound, well...I'm more of a NIN fan.

Happy wife, happy life. - TR's new mantra

This music is so, so bad. Meathead Trent can't pull off non-cutter music.

love NIN, went to the last T5 show, and shirts there were 25, which is the high end of tolerable. 35-40 for a t shirt is rip-off obnoxiousness, which I thought Trent was beyond.

11:35 - JT...I'm sure she is probably hot (why would Trent marry any differently?) but how on Earth can you tell what she looks like by these photos?

anyone know the set times?

For the most part, bands (and not even their management) control the price of merch. Larger, seated venues like the ones they're playing are completely unionized. NIN is an entirely different story. You can set the prices yourself when you draw crowds that big. Live music is a business.

Keep doing you're thing Trent. Woohoo!

Trent has 2 kids to feed now. Duh, Thus, the t-shirt price hike.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 2:57 PM

Most venues of that size take 15-20% of merch sales. Pretty standard actually....

Awesome photos! Is it possible to get hi-rez versions of any of these?

True NIN and Reznor fans would respect Trent's choice of creating HTDA with his wife. It shouldn't matter whether it sounds like NIN or not, what matters is that Trent is happy with HTDA.

Get some class and stop uploading whole albums of somebody else's work. Do you work for free? Were you raised in a barn? Yikes.

Everything in this song just sounds so pristine clear! The plucking of the instruments, the clanky acoustics, the gentleness in the singers voice... beautiful. Trent really was inspired by the Ghosts album to make this band. Very experimental - I like!
