Janelle Monae recently wrapped up two weekends at Coachella 2013, having played both Saturdays of the festival. We missed her the first weekend, but caught her set during the second one, and pictures from that are in this post. Janelle stuck mainly to material from her excellent 2010 debut LP, The ArchAndroid, save for a track off of her first EP and a cover of The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” which you can watch a video of below.

Janelle’s debut is one of those arty R&B albums that just predated the explosion of the genre. While it still holds up, it had been feeling like high time that she gets on releasing that followup, and after Coachella ended, she did just that. Janelle announced that her new album is called The Electric Lady (release date TBA) and revealed its very good first single, “Q.U.E.E.N.,” which features guest vocals form Erykah Badu.
