Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:33 PM

5 nights in my bank account

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:34 PM

T5? Try Barclays Center. Everyone needs a pension.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:35 PM

Radio City with a full orchestra please.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:35 PM

Half Japanese and Daniel Johnston!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:35 PM

so much flannel

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:36 PM

more flannel than Pearl Jam Unplugged

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:36 PM

Is NMH apart of the Mountain Oasis Festival whose lineup comes out tomorrow?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:37 PM

radio city or Barclays, my guess

Coachella 2014 - headlining all three nights, both weekends

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:39 PM

this is glorious news

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:39 PM

barclays obviously

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:40 PM

but will they be playing new songs? recording a new album? that's what would get me really excited.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:40 PM

Top 5 all time most overrated bands - shld be extremely popular with BV readers...

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:41 PM

We all knew this was coming. Why so crazy now? Mangum has slowly been leading up to this.

Having them play Barclays would be a crime.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:43 PM

I stopped listening years ago but would love to see the full band live.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:43 PM

Also, Mangum is not built to be an arena/stadium guy. It won't be at Barclays. Radio City seems more likely with hopefully a small gig before that.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:44 PM

Radio City would be awesome. Hoping for 2-3 nights. Ticketmaster will implode on itself.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:45 PM

Props to Mangum for figuring out a way to cash in TWICE on his return.
Not even complaining. I'll be trying to get tix to these.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:46 PM

T5, face it

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:49 PM

2 straight weeks at brownies circa 1998

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:50 PM

I'd like to see the whole band at a MHOW or Bowery-sized venue, but nothing will beat Jeff Magnum's coming-out-of-hiding show at the Schoolhouse in Bushwick in Dec 2010.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:54 PM

Dec. 25 Bowery
Dec. 26 T5
Dec. 31 MSG

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:59 PM

New Years Eve at MSG w The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 3:59 PM

Set times:

10p Puppet Show
9p School of Rock plays Gene Simmons Solo material
8p NMH

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:03 PM

This is a hoax.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:04 PM

341 Yup. Middle of the road listenable indie rock. I'd maybe go if it were a freebie.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:04 PM

mangum only played smallish theatres on his solo tour when he could have done way bigger. this will never be in arena.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:05 PM

Probably RCMH. A few nights. Will lead to much frustration and complaining. Glad I was second row at BAM.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:10 PM

4:05- Town Hall and Wellmont aren't exactly smallish theatres.

4:04- Good to know we won't see you there.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:10 PM

"Glad I was second row at BAM."

Yes because Jeff solo and the full band are the same thing. You may have just won the idiot of the day comment on BV.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:18 PM

Jersey City again? Maybe Todd will wear another fancy sweater?

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:28 PM

I'd LOVE to see them play Loew's in Jersey City again. That was a great show.

If you look at the venue they are playing in Athens, it's clear they won't do a stadium show in New York. In fact, that should be obvious regardless. I'm guessing smaller - maybe Town Hall or the Beacon.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:38 PM

Happened to see them in 7/96 sort of by mistake. Wasn't a fan but someone I respect said I should see 'em.
Honestly one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I was embarrassed that I talked my friends into going. Want a jangly boring Beetlesesque snoozefest that was.
Somehow this band became legendary after they stopped touring and it still baffles my mind. Can't wait to see the tour reviews from all the hummus eaters.

town hall/beacon/RCMH are the only real possibilities. or symphony space, but i doubt they're going that left-field.

SUMMERSTAGE!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:47 PM

4:43 - 3:54 here.
I know seeing the whole band play together will be great, but at the Schoolhouse, there were 50 of us sitting in a semi-circle around Jeff, singing along. It was intimate and insanely special. And then Jeff hung out afterwards to chat it up with us. That's pretty hard to beat, even if NMH play a smallish venue.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 4:59 PM

^Would you just shut up you twerp

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 5:15 PM

dude seriously? Lustmord is a much better artist

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 5:16 PM

Summerstage would be cool.

Insanely special? ugh

I once saw Jeff Mangum at Whole Foods. We had a very intellectual conversation regarding the health benefits of Phyto-Nutrients.
He explained to me that prior to his shows he enjoys a hummus sandwich because the energy giving properties that are locked within the Chickpea make his guitar playing more frantic and enjoyable. I nodded in agreement, shook his hand and then headed off to isle 7 to get some triangular shaped dipping devices.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 6:10 PM

The amount of press/nose-in-the-air hype this dude/band gets is hilarious. "They're doing a REUNION! Two Gigs in Georgia, a gig in NC and two gigs (that nobody on this thread will see) in Japan!!! Let's stop the pretentious music press and have a circle jerk!

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 7:21 PM

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 8:15 PM

^ 6:10 was a pretty solid, too.

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 9:41 PM

Only 51 comments? There were more on the "who is Thurston boning" thread.

I foresee mostly seated venues, second-market FTW and a cross promotion between NMH and Kleenex.

You need one of the below for a thread to break 100 on BV:

-Radiohead
-Attractive female singer arguing against sexism
-Psychotic cross-comment argument (usually completely unrelated to the content of the actual post)
-Retroactive content, which can be used as a platform for the above psychotic arguments (i.e. concert pictures, a setlist, etc.)

ArFi is a comment generator....nerds...

Posted by Anonymous | April 29, 2013 10:17 PM

Ahh, good point. I just figured many posts that allows "wild speculation," such as this thread would hit the magic number. You know guessing the venues of a band who has not even announced NE dates.

But I guess you are right...but what if Atoms for Peace and NMH play LPR with a Lydia Lunch set?

A nation of half a billion meat-eating warmongers, with a nuclear arsenal, and yet none of you can DJ with a fraction of the brilliance that Nina Kraviz has.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2013 12:12 AM

Take a fuckin chill pill people. You're not going to get tickets anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2013 12:37 AM

If Bowery puts this on you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be at RCMH or even Barclays. Please if Passion Pit can be propped up there in an arena so can these guys.

scalper boner

Maybe if I had a beard, wore flannel shirts, geeky chic glasses and tennis sneakers, carried a tote bag and lived in Brooklyn I would be excited about this.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2013 10:14 AM

pass on this

too bad you're still moshing in cornfields in iowa

I do not have a beard, sometimes wear flannel shirts, wear glasses for things such as driving, and I do own tennis sneakers, I do not carry a tote bag, and I am excited about this.

Well, this is the first BV comment thread that was actually funny at times and not just an endless stream of dickitude. Congrats, you arrogant pricks!

Just about´╗┐ everyone. Fortunately for the recording's sake, there were a few quieter people near me. I was also right in front of a speaker. I was filming with an iPhone so I'm surprised by how it turned out. I stabilized the phone on my arm on top of the barricade.

This album is one of the most divisive on the internet. It's either a masterpiece or a piece of trash. I decided to give a full listen myself to try and decide what side of the fence I fell on.
