Yeasayer @ SS Coachella 2012 (more by Greg Cristman)
Yeasayer

Speaking of festivals, maybe you've seen commercials on TV for Living Social's Backyard Festival which happens on July 13 at Randall's Island. The fest features Aerosmith, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and... Yeasayer? Yep. The fest promises more bands but they haven't been announced yet. In addition to the music, food is from NYC restauranteur Dany Meyer's Union Square Events with a beer garden featuring 150 craft beers on tap. Tickets -- which include drink tastings and range from $89 general admission to $999 "Ultra VIP" -- are on sale now.

Yeasayer also play Governors Ball next month.

Odd.

finally yeasayer are where they belong. at a shitty festival with bands that are far past their primes (which quite frankly, weren't even good)

yeasayer complained about the crowd when they opened for Weezer and the Flaming Lips, looking forward to more bitching.

But everyone loves craft beers.

I was at that show... the crowd was non existant for them. where did they complain?

12:41 likes aerosmith

hahhaha

This...will fail miserably. Aerosmith fans do not seem like the people to trek out to Randalls Island. Fans of any "indie" style bands are not going to want to pay $$$ to see a band play a 45 min set when they can see them at Bowery for cheaper.

12:43 they said something like they should never have played the show, but they like Weezer and they can play in front of that many people at the Cake Shop whenever they want, then said that no one in the crowd has ever heard of the Cake Shop.

Where did they say all this though? Twitter? Interview?

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2013 12:50 PM

I don't see why they wouldnt want to open for 2 bigger bands. They open their music up to new fans. Oh well.

I get it because there were only about 25 people out there, and that must have been frustrating, but that was only because it was a torrential downpour. He said it on stage, right into the mic.

$999 for Ultra VIP

Randall's Island is a great underused venue. So many good festival there: Lollapalooza, Fleadh, Horde, Warped (yeah, I said it), even Little Steven's festival was fun.

Aerosmith are way past their prime, but are probably still better then most bands talked about on this blog.

I saw them at Fun Fun Fun Fest a few years ago, and they were complete bitches and complained about everything. I completely lost respect for them.

I remember the singer of Yeasayer being a douche at Jones Beach. Acting like he's way too good to be playing to such few people. What a schmuck.

Terrible band, too.

I was at that show, I got close to the theater but stayed outside and drank from a solo cup during Yeasayer's set. Jones Beach doesn't serve alcohol inside :( sorry yeasayer, my desire to drink won out over my desire to watch you flex on stage.

1:08 if you think Aerosmith are better then most of the bands on this blog please feel free to read another blog. StatenIslandDirtbag.com, maybe?
