FLAG, comprised of former Black Flag-ers and Descendents Keith Morris, Chuck Dukowski, Dez Cadena, Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton, will play a series of precision strikes this summer and fall. Weekends shows and festivals will be the band's MO thus far, hitting Orion, Punk Rock Bowling, NXNE, FYF Fest and more, but do include a string of East Coast dates in September. Look for FLAG to hit NYC on September 19 at Irving Plaza. Tickets go on presale on Wednesday (5/15) at 10 AM with regular sale hitting on Friday (5/17) at 10 AM.

The band recently played a surprise show in Redondo Beach, CA where the band performed at a Moose Lodge. Video of that performance is below.

Greg Ginn is also on the road with Black Flag (they'll be here next month), and doesn't take kindly to the fact that FLAG exists.

6/7 - Stage AE - Pittsburgh, PA
6/8 - Orion Music + More Festival - Detroit, MI

Chuck looks like a creepy old man who hangs out at a playground.

They're all creepy men who hang out at playgrounds. That's why this is going to rule.

Long-term exposure to Jerry has Dez taking on the appearance of a Caiafa. Osmosis is a helluva drug.

oh boy

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 11:39 AM

I'd be alright with no black flag.

OFF! is repackaged black flag, and flag is repackaged OFF, which also repurposed circle jerks, which is also... talk about getting paid a thousand different ways for the same material. hey, if the kids and nostalgic creepy old dudes still enjoy, more power to 'em. but at a certain point, the music "scene" has to focus on originality rather than repaying retreads for reusing their catalogues.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:02 PM

yes! will be much better than Ginn's abomination.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:06 PM

1:02, shut the fuck up and enjoy your "scene."

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:10 PM

that's Nick Oliveri at 1:17

Posted by josh | May 13, 2013 1:29 PM

wonder who i hate more. kids or old people. or just people who "enjoy" shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:40 PM

that lineup is gonna kill it

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 3:34 PM

just what we need, Black Flag's "greatest hits" as performed by 5 dudes who didn't write em... that's a glorified cover band and a cash grab waste of time...

you idiots shit talk Ginn all you want... then go walk over to yr cd shelf, record collection or ipod dock and take a look at just HOW much music you own that was solely brought to yr ears and the rest of the worlds by him/his label/his efforts

and - if it wasn't yr record deal then i don't wanna hear about who got paid or did not... you weren't there so save the bullshit.. you have NO clue what the actual reality was and is surrounding any of the bizness that SST did or that the bands might have agreed to back in the day.

Flag is Keith Morris telling the world he isn't making enough money or it with Off! by doing Flag.

Bottom line is Greg Ginn wrote most if not all the music (please tell me what Chuck wrote out of the dozens of songs the band released) and these five cashgrab clowns "Keith, Chuck, Bill, Dez, and Stephen" have no respect for him or the legacy of Black Flag which they are tarnishing with every show they play as "Flag". Ginn ripped off them, Kira, Rollins etc. you say? Well say he did - it's their fault they got ripped off for not legally ensuring they would receive their fair pay. If Black Flag played shows where they had contracts, you'd have to be some kind of idiot to not have them for records. Betcha "Flag" aren't playing these shows at live music monopolist Live Nation (and AEG Live) venues on a word/handshake.

Greg Ginn, however, is not tarnishing the name Black Flag. Say what you want about the two new songs he's released - I flat out posted on BV the first one blows and say here the second one is better but still lackluster and contrived - but it at least it's new music which "Flag" has no intention of creating and even if they had one it could not come anywhere close to matching the power of Black Flag through 1986. It looks like I have to say the same about Black Flag 2013 but I'll give Ginn an "A" for effort even though I consider it a "C" grade output so far (although maybe I should give it "B" since it's better or at least more interesting / intriguing than 99.9% of what passes as "hardcore punk" today.) At least Ginn is making an effort and it takes alot of guts to put out something new in the face of closeminded, setminded assholes who would give two shits about Flag if Flag was playing only new songs only.

Flag is the West Coast version of Cro-Mags: a glorified cover band (like Cro-Mags) led by an self-entitled egomaniac (Keith Morris) who thinks the band is his even though he didn't write a single note of music for the band (like John Joseph.) Both men are the dual-epitome of a "sellout" as they're doing their respective glorified cover bands because that's what sells. I defy/challenge them to put out new music with their respective glorified cover bands.

Btw I'd rather go on a walking tour of the Lower East Side with Harley Flanagan than a self-absorbed, self-promoting fool like John Joseph who once said it was "karma" that Japan got hit by a tsunami yet kept his mouth shut about "karma" re: Hurricane Sandy. Why? Yo John why not say Hurricane Sandy was "karma" for all the meateaters in NYC? Oh I forgot, Japan slaughtering dolphins is worse than slaughtering cattle, chickens etc. Idiot.

David Sylvain has never harmed a dolphin, he's a gentle man

All D says may or may not be true, but My War has never ben played that good.

Bottom line they obviously kick ass.
Are they good? Is it worth the time and the money?

Greg Ginn is the father here of course, but they have all screwed each other over at this point. Some financially, some politically, so as far as I am concerned it all cancels each other out.If you like it go, if you don't, don't

Ticket to see Flag: $25

Earplugs to drown out Keith Morris banter: $2

Beers to make this band seem "ok": $36

Chuck Dukowski's t-shirt: Priceless

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2013 12:20 AM

Fuck Flag.

Keith do just Off!, or are they not paying the bills?

He is dreadlocked asshole who shit-talks his ex-bandmates in Circle Jerks and Black Flag whose music has given him a music career.

Seriously, where would this whiny-voiced fuck be if he wasn't in the proverbial "right place at the right time"? Still doing bonghits under a pier.

Posted by D | May 14, 2013 1:46 AM

I don't know man, you tell me.
If a former bandmate of mine screwed me out of paychecks on records and merch sales and later puts the band on the road again and brings along all this mercy for sale, I am thinking well, maybe I get together former members in a version of the band and attempt to get what I was owed.

With the exception of Edgerton, who by the way, spent quality time learning how Greg played ever riff and solo (it's obvious), all of these guys have had a hand in every version of Black Flag.

So, it's a cash , their owed and by the way Flag kicks Greg's band's ass. They should write new tunes.

Kind of like Jello and DK.

I agree with the earlier post. They all screw each other

Dukowski wrote "My War"

End of story.

Type in Greg Ginn Lawsuit into google and see what happens

Since when did we care so much about who wrote our punk rock songs?
When I heard these records in the 1980's it was about who sang the songs not who wrote them. Keith Morris was Black Flag's first singer I want to hear him sing.
Never in my life have I ever wanted to hear Harley Flanagan sing anything off of Age Of Quarrel. I don't give a fuck who wrote it. It's the man who sings the song that makes it immortal in my book. John .

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2013 11:15 PM

Hey stupid (11:15pm):

No Harley Flanagan, no Cro-Mags, no The Age Of Quarrel, no John Joseph singing on The Age Of Quarrel.

Take your lips off John Joseph's dick then show respect to Harley for giving John a career and the world one of the greatest albums in rock 'n' roll history.

Hey ahole that commented on greg ginn writing all the songs. Big effing deal; keith was the best singer bf ever had and dez is the first/bedt version of six pack. Bill is a great drummer and chuck rules. Ginn sucks out loud as a person, even though he did write the songs.

Where is the coverage for this show!!?

Posted by Anonymous | September 24, 2013 12:29 PM

Holy crap, this is amazing! The true Black Flag! This version is heavier and louder than the original, I love it. Can't believe I saw Nick Oliveri at 1:17 too.
