Only if this was in NY. Fuck Govenors Ball garbage!

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:42 PM

I wonder how they'll deal with MBV's volume in downtown LA ?

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:43 PM

Not too bad, not too bad at all!!!

Death Grips, FLAG, Joyce Manor, Metz, Melvins, Title Fight, Touche Amore.

Pretty Cool.

Too bad it is on the west coast.

Hopefully corresponds to FunFunFunFest (high percentage of the same acts; most years)

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:45 PM

Fingers crossed for MBV in NY

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:45 PM

no Grimes?

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 1:52 PM

Weekend passes are $100 and a Virgin flight there as of now is $124. Make it happen 1:42 !

MBV is gonna shatter a lot glass in downtown LA

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:00 PM

The festival is not in downtown, but in a park not too far from it (but far enough).

I went last year, had a great time.

This year's lineup pails in comparison to the past two years punk and hardcore offerings. Touche Amore, Title Fight and Joyce Manor all played last year. You can see FLAG this summer on tour. I'd basically be paying to see MBV (again) and a bunch of other punk bands I've already seen. Color me disappointed.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:19 PM

Oops, meant past two years with Touche, Title and Joyce Manor. It all blends together in memory.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:20 PM

2:19 -> Stale sausage.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:23 PM

Baroness are on the lineup, after having to cancel last year. Good for them.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:25 PM

Tickets were $77 last year. 29% increase in prices. One of the best parts of FYF is that it was cheap, so you took a chance on seeing bands you normally wouldn't see. Now it is $50 a day. Still a good price if the lineup/set-times are right, but not the same spirit as past years.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:45 PM

Wait a second, no longer on Labor Day weekend? That sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:48 PM

2:45 sometimes (not all the time) you have to pay more money to get better bands.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 2:53 PM

Fewer bands this year as well.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 3:06 PM

"you have to pay more money to get better bands."

Not "better" bands, just "bigger" bands.

They should have stuck with the smaller bands/lower price model that made them popular. Leave the big names to the big festivals.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 3:07 PM

Still way cheaper than most festivals around the US and a better lineup at that. Proof that all it takes is a discerning taste in music, not a huge budget to pay people with egos the size of Kanye or Axl Rose. The Gov Ball organizers could really learn a thing or two from FYF.

Agree with 3:07. It seems with less punk and hardcore bands on this years lineup (compare it to last years and the year before... it's embarrassingly weak in that regard,) the ideals of a low-ticket festival with a ton of bands breaking through went out the window. Now, you're paying for MBV and a bunch of this year's festival givens.

remember the first fuck yeah fest that was just at a couple of clubs in echo park? it already changed too much when they started censoring the name.

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 9:03 PM

are fyf interns commenting? this lineup is pretty standard and uneventful. blahhh

Posted by Anonymous | May 13, 2013 9:06 PM

My Bloody Valentine is the only thing that matters on this fest.

Dumb choice of L.A. venue by MBV as they should be playing in the most Gothic of L.A. nightclubs, not in a park.

Posted by D | May 13, 2013 11:32 PM

^
The most gothic of LA clubs?

I'm guessing you're from Yonkers? Stick to talking about Sick of it All or H20.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2013 12:11 AM

12:11am

Yeah you dumb fuck, not a lameass fairgrounds.

Yonkers?

Stick to my nuts some more, bitch.

Fuck H20.

Posted by D | May 14, 2013 1:38 AM

Could someone explain My Bloody Valentine to me? I saw them at All Points West a few years ago, and all I heard was distortion. Couldn't hear drums, vocals, or pretty much anything else. Seemed like a gimmick. I know I am uncool for saying that; just keeping it real.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2013 5:12 AM

Real? Please. You're a fabricated breast.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2013 6:12 AM
