Ozzy's old guitarist and Pantera's drummer are part of the (Republican?) party too...

Megadeth at MSG (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)

Megadeth's Gigantour, a colossal carnival of major label mediocrity, will roll back out on the road this summer. There the ex-Metallica lead-guitarist-and current-Megadeth-mainstay Dave Mustaine will collide with former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted and his new project, er-Newsted (who meanwhile is on a headlining tour), for dates with Zakk Wylde's band Black Label Society (current Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo is an ex-member), Device, Hellyeah (featuring Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul), and Death Division. All dates are listed below.

Interested parties can catch Gigantour in NYC on August 7th at a location TBA, August 9th in Camden at Susquehanna Center (on sale today), July 5 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT (on sale today) and July 6th at Marvin Sands PAC in Canadaigua (on sale today). Get your tickets.

Full tour dates are below alongside some classic Megadeth (not Megadeath, New York Times). No word on when the masses will figure out that Hellyeah is actually terrible, but we'll keep you posted...

Talking about mediocrity, the Newsted band is really built around the ex-Metallica's guy's name. Musically, it's boring, old sounding and predictable.

Megadeth is the most overrated metal band, ever. They are good at posing and good at playing, but they only have a small number of actual good songs. Their only good albums are Peace Sells and Rust In Piece. All the rest suck, save for maybe one good song on each album.

this tour isnt coming to california. no one is upset.

I love how Mustaine refers to his band as #2 behind Metallica in the interview. In reality, I could name at least 3 or 4 classic metal bands from that era that are better than them. Slayer, Anthrax, and Pantera immediately come to mind.

"Back in my country, my president is trying to pass a gun ban so he's staging all of these murders. The 'Fast and Furious' thing down at the border. And Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there. And now, the beautiful people at the Sikh temple."

"I don't know where I'm going to live if America keeps going the way it's going because it looks like it's turning into Nazi America."

"this tour isnt coming to california. no one is upset."

Actually, I am. Metal chicks at shows are always nice to look at!

You used a lot of words to say "Shitty has beens going on tour."

11:19 - I went to a metal show recently, after not going to one in like 10 years. The only metal chicks were either girlfriends/wives that were dragged to the show, or fat and/or skanky looking girls.

Why do hipsters post about metal and talk nothing but shit, but some one-day wonder gets praise for sounding like Flock of Seagulls. The lineup is weak...but megadeth is amazing live if the sound is right. Period. Band shreds. They play their instruments with more command than the BS this site pushes most of the time.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 11:49 AM

11:15 - Yes, Dave Mustaine is a crackpot. God, I remember a time when the extreme left-wing were the crazies. Now the tables have turned in a humorous way.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 11:50 AM

11:49 - Sure, they can shred. But their songwriting sucks. Other than Rust In Piece and Peace Sells, every other album is only good for one song each.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 11:54 AM

That's the problem with the 'metal mentality'. Metal lunkheads are too concerned about how much they show off their musicianship/virtuosity, and they forget that there should be a listenable song somewhere there.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 11:58 AM

your definition of "listenable song" is likely different than "metalheads" definition. We like the riffs, the screams, the virtuosity. If you can hum along with's probably a band like distrubed, puddle of mudd, avenged - bands that real metalheads can't stand. Go listen to Animals as Leaders and tell me metal isn't superior musicianship

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 12:23 PM

Actually, you really don't know what my definition of a "listenable song" is.
I like riffs just as much as anyone else, and I appreciate anyone who can play an instrument well. But if the song sucks, all the riffing and jerking off with your instrument means shit.
Megadeth's albums suck, aside from the two I mentioned above. I would put Peace Sells up against any album in the 80s as one of the best of the decade in any genre. Rust in Peace is decent too. The rest blow chunks, and are each only good for one or two songs at best.
What separates Metallica (pre-Black Album) from a lot of other metal bands of that time is that behind all the riffing was an actual decent song.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 12:50 PM

This line-up is embarrassing. Black Label Society is one of the worst bands that has a devoted fanbase. Zakk Wylde cant write a song worth shit.

Hellyeah may even be worse, and who the fuck is Device?

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 1:32 PM

I went to a Gigantour once and High on Fire were the first of like, 6 bands. One of them being fucking Job for a Cowboy.

I think that says everything about this awful tour.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 1:48 PM

is DIIV on this too?

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 2:03 PM

could they just be called cowjob boy for short?

This is the prefect example of Recovery ...Instead of feeling angry & resenting to something he can never change which is his past . Dave can finally admit he messed up & make prefect amends to the one who kick him out of the group.
