Deerhunter at Austin Psych Fest 2013 (more by Tim Griffin)
Deerhunter

Governors Ball is less than a month away, and the fest has now released the daily schedule. They've done a pretty good job with not too many giant conflicts -- though there's a few like Grizzly Bear vs Beirut, Bloc Party vs The xx, Erykah Badu vs Beach House, and Nas vs Guns N Roses. Check out the daily line-ups across their four stages below.

"Sunday is the only day worth going if you live in NYC!"

Thanks.

Hmmm....

Cold War Kids v. Portugal The Man
XX v. Bloc Party
Lumineers v. Grizzly Bear
Young The Giant v. Feist

I guess I'll just pick names out of a hat.

Sunday is the only day worth going if you always remind people you live in NYC!

Foals and Deerhunter conflict. Those are the best two bands on the bill.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 1:49 PM

where's the deerhunter afterparty?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 1:49 PM

9:30 PM - Guns n' Roses

Uh huh. Sure.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 1:50 PM

149
What are you talking about. They're playing an hour apart...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 1:52 PM

1:52

So you can watch half of Deerhunter's set, leave, walk to a new stage where you'll be at the back of the main stage audience for the second half of Foals?

When there's that type of overlap I'd rather just pick one band and see their entire set.

Technically, everyone at this festival will be bridge & tunnel, amirite?

Posted by Zing! | May 9, 2013 2:01 PM

I give zero fucks about this festival

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:01 PM

I'm a patient at the psych hospital, so not everyone at these shows will be bridge & tunnel.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:06 PM

If you choose Beach House over Erykah Badu, please have someone check to see if you have a pulse.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:06 PM

only nyc deerhunter date for awhile...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:07 PM

there are so many great acts here. you losers will find anything to complain about.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:07 PM

And we give zero fucks about you.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:08 PM

Nas vs. Empty Stage

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:25 PM

Save for Deerhunter, who I'm sure will schedule another NYC date at some point soon, you could have checked out the majority of these bands playing at various smaller venues in NYC over the past 12 months.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:25 PM

Deerhunter sucked at Austin Psych Fest.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:26 PM

whats with the no Deerhunter NYC dates besides this shitty fest?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:42 PM

I give about three or four fucks about this festival.

Posted by Regular reader | May 9, 2013 2:43 PM

The promoters should be proud. They're the first to pull off a major rock fest in our dear city. Just get rid of Axl for fucks sake

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:57 PM

Deerhunter will play another date around Governors Ball. You can take that to the bank.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 2:59 PM

How do people get to this festival? Is it just the ferry that takes forever if there's a line of hundreds upon hundreds of people waiting for it?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 3:05 PM

Sources say deerhunter is opening up for hundred waters at Barclays #afterparty

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 3:07 PM

^walk there from the subway. It's a pain but better than being herded into boat lines and waiting forever.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 3:19 PM

4/5/6 to 125th st. buses will be waiting on the corner for the short ride over the bridge. super easy and so much cheaper than the stupid ferry they try to push on everyone.

Swim

Are there other hipster bands with 'Deer' or 'Antler' or 'Hoof' performing during this weekend? Someone should curate an entire festival of nothing but bands with names based on Cervidae.

"4/5/6 to 125th st. buses will be waiting on the corner for the short ride over the bridge. super easy and so much cheaper than the stupid ferry they try to push on everyone."

Agreed. Can you use your monthly on the buses or is it one of those "special" cases where the MTA charges an extra $1 or so just because they can.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 4:22 PM

i do not want this

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 4:29 PM

"Save for Deerhunter, who I'm sure will schedule another NYC date at some point soon, you could have checked out the majority of these bands playing at various smaller venues in NYC over the past 12 months."

I'm glad you understand why people go to music festivals...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2013 4:33 PM

If this is what "hipster central" looks like, that's fine with me. The music was incredible, the people were friendly and awesome, the food was perfection... Overall, best festival I've ever been to in my life.

Posted by Jessica | May 10, 2013 2:29 AM

Deerhunter isn't very good.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 8:03 AM

Dear hunter: fuck you.

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 10:47 AM

did anyone refer to it as 'hipster central'? This is "I know that one song by them bc it's in a beer commercial, and theirs is in a car commercial...and I like Kings of Leon bc they're better than what's on z100 central" -

I'm wondering if Foals' set list will be similar to that from the terminal 5 show

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2013 11:32 AM

I've only ever heard the Star Slinger remix of this song. But I'm liking the original as well.

Posted by Suzanne | May 11, 2013 11:19 AM

Young the Giant!!!! ❤️💋 I'm so in love with this band! (Mathew Schuler also did an amazing job for singing this cool song on The Voice.)
