Starland Ballroom

Back in November we reported that NJ music venue Starland Ballroom, who had to cancel a lot of shows due to damage from Hurricane Sandy, was going to stay closed until at least Spring 2013. Spring is here and though they're being vague, the club just posted a video along with the message: "Thanks for all of your well-wishes, good vibes and hopes for recovery. It's finally time to talk about the future of the Starland Ballroom." The video doesn't offer much information but ends with "June 4, 2013." A commenter immediately asked the natural first question which is, "does this mean the announcement will be on June 4 or shows will start then?" Starland answered, "We'll just have to wait and see." Ok, we're waiting.

Check out a videos of Motorhead and Wu Tang Clan at Starland, below...

Hope they actually start booking decent acts there.

There is really no reason to ever go to Sayerville, NJ.

Still too out of the way to get me to ever go. Not a bad venue, but in a horrible location.

Only reason to go there is to see Monster Magnet.

Worst venue in the tristate area.

much to the chagrin of the comments above,
here's this fact on Wiki:

"In just five years, Starland has sold close to three-quarters of a million tickets, while constantly ranking as one of the best-selling concert nightclubs in the United States and beyond."

maybe you like it, maybe you don't. but it isn't going anywhere.

(unless you want to somehow resurrect City Gardens)

Not a great venue , actually liked the shows being pushed to the Wellmont....

I could only hope that Starland could one day get the talent that City Gardens used to get. I used to go there all through high school and it was awesome. One of the greatest clubs and scenes NJ will ever see.

They make you pay to park in a dusty field in the middle of nowhere.

The place is very out of the way and inconvenient. I actually went more often before I drove and had to take a bus/train/cab combo to get there. Once I started driving, I may have went twice tops.

oddest line up at this venue you ask? How about Grandaddy with Saves the Day? Yeah, it was an odd time for Grandaddy to be on Vagrant..

i saw booze & adventure there, and some girl started giving my friend an hj outside his pants in the mosh pit, then she gave him a bj in the parking lot behind a car while we waited, did this place mostly book vagrant/drive thru/fueled by ramen type emo/pop-punk bands?

Sayerville is the new Brooklyn.

Posted by Anonymous | May 14, 2013 2:50 PM

Jon Bon Jovi and Tico used to ride bikes out there after little league

sound sucks, booking sucks, location sucks

saw some pretty great shows there as a kid. haven't been in year. hoping for a bigger venue as it was always packed.

Venue is nice.

Location sucks.
Sound sucks.
People suck
(North Jersey's trash, come here if you want to find em'. Doesn't even matter for what show).

My ex-girlfriend got puked on during Thursday's final show. I guess thats prob. the only good thing that's happened at this venue.

Better than any venue in NY Shitty. Fewer smelly hipster fags.

@2:06pm: I saw that Grandaddy/Saves the Day show. The Fire Theft also played. Didn't stay for Saves the Day though. Starland Ballroom sucked, I've never been back. Birch Hill Nite Club is marginally better. Why is Maxwell's the only decent venue in NJ?

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2013 6:26 PM

@12:17am: Sayerville is NOT North Jersey.

Posted by Anonymous | May 16, 2013 6:28 PM

12:17 is from Iowa.

Why is Maxwell's the only decent venue in NJ?

Not decent enough, its closing due to lack of people coming, unlike Starland

Not a bad venue, but in a horrible location.
