Shellac at Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusement, 2011 (more by Zach Pollack)
Shellac

Steve Albini has announced that Shellac have recorded the "music part" of their first LP in six-plus years, the follow-up to Excellent Italian Greyhound. In a video interview with music journalist Vish Khanna, Albini reveals that the musical portion of the LP was wrapped as of April, with "most likely" nine songs on the as yet untiled release. Title and artwork still to come to, though Albini says it will mostly likely come out on Touch & Go. Check out the video interview below.

So far no US dates for the band, but you can catch Shellac on the road in the EU playing dates that include their stop at Primavera Sound in a few weeks. All dates are listed below.

Pretty much the best way to guarantee that I don't even finish reading past the headline of an article is for the first three words to be "Steve Albini says"

He used to be god-like.

Well, 9:16, I have never heard of him either, but he must be somebody of importantce since he produced Surfer Rosa, Seamonsters, Rid of Me, In Utero, Things We Lost in the Fire, Pod, Journal For Plague Lovers, Further Complications, and plenty of other classics.

nobody cares about die kreuzen because they were lame glam metal, and not the conceptual bildungsroman they touted themselves as. that guy couldn't sing to save his soul, but he sure could howl like his anatomy was caught in a vice

I mean the only thing I remember about them is covers of aerosmith and wire. not a reason for a comeback or reissue.

it's just a character piece, like Killdozer songs, he's doing the character of a vengeful bastard, the dudes in Shellac are all chilled family dudes. great song though.

Awesome, really glad to hear this. Been waiting for a new album for a long time now. Can't wait for it and the US tour that will probably follow.
