The National in Ithaca (more by PSquared Photography)
The National

The National's new album, Trouble Will Find Me, is out today (Pitchfork gave it Best New Music) and the band took a night from their just-started tour to play The Late Show with David Letterman last night. Video of that is below.

The band are still in town and will celebrate the new record tonight (5/21) with a very intimate show at Mercury Lounge. Tickets to that go on sale at noon. Good luck.

UPDATE: They're playing small NYC clubs all day, apparently, including Public Assembly at 5 PM. To go to that, email troublewillfindmentnl@gmail.com and confirmation emails will be sent by 3 PM. There may be more and you can follow their Twitter to find out.

UPDATE 2: Purchase the record IN STORE at Other Music today before 4pm and you'll be entered to win a pair of tickets (to Mercury Lounge we assume). Winner will be notified between 4 and 5pm.

If you can't get tickets for tonight, there are still tickets available for The National's slightly larger scale show at Barclays Center on June 5.

Should be easy enough to get those tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:28 AM

I hope they play more than 1 song.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:28 AM

I wonder if they're doing pdf tickets

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:34 AM

Sold out already

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:37 AM

$10 too.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:38 AM

There's gonna be like, 10 tickets in the Merc online onsale. Other music has a pair, mercury lounge box office is holding a bunch.

Hoping to get in, but I doubt it.

"I wonder if they're doing pdf tickets"

Mercury Lounge shows never have PDF tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:47 AM

...and tickets are only $10.

The chances of scoring tickets to this are astronomically low now.

"There's gonna be like, 10 tickets in the Merc online onsale. Other music has a pair, mercury lounge box office is holding a bunch."

You can buy from the box office for this? Figured they would do online only so people don't line up.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:50 AM

$2 at the door

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:50 AM

"You can buy from the box office for this? Figured they would do online only so people don't line up."

Tickets at the box office at noon, so only the scalpers, unemployed, and those who will take ridiculously long lunch breaks will be in line.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:52 AM

Mercury Lounge twitter said they'll have some at the box office, which sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:53 AM

Man, this is a great time to be unemployed.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 10:56 AM

I'm employed so I will just buy GA tix for the Barclays show, push my way through the crowd minutes before they come on, and be within the same distance I would be for this show tonight.

Posted by Anonymouse | May 21, 2013 10:59 AM

I am going to score tickets to the Mercury show. Then five minutes after they start playing, I will turn and walk the fuck out.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:03 AM

don't care

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:29 AM

Noon Sycamore Flower Shop + Bar

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:31 AM

$10?!? Serious cash cow for any scalpers who get their hands on them.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:34 AM

Anyone down by Merc Lounge? If so, can you Instagram a picture of the line? I want to see if the same characters who waited out for LCD are there.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:37 AM

They can't really be selling physical tickets for this, are they? Really stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:47 AM

It's already sold out. Don't bother trying at noon. Thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:49 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:51 AM

There's the warm up show you were waiting for.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 11:56 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:00 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:08 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:08 PM

Just got my tix at Mercury Lounge and the only scalper on line didn't get tix!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:11 PM

Fuckin captchas

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:14 PM

12:08pm if that's true, nice tip! (thnx for future)

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:17 PM

@12:11, are they sold out at the box office now too?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:17 PM

Apparently there's only about 25 people at the Sycamore show that's going to start shortly. Working 9-5 not fun sometimes.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:21 PM

@12:17 you might have to be logged into your account already but I just tried a few more events and as soon as you hit "Find Tickets" it goes right into the ticket search. just found this out myself!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:21 PM

Sycamore is NOT in The South Slope. It is in Flatbush.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:30 PM

Sycamore is in Ditmas Park, I was referring to the general area when I said south slope earlier. Regardless, it's a tiny freaking show going on right now: http://instagram.com/p/ZlJ6KprmD-/#

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:33 PM

whatever they're all shitty neighborhoods where only the lowliest of hipster scum live.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 12:39 PM

Ditmas Park is NOT in the general area of the South Slope. Ditmas Park is in Flatbush. Flatbush is on the complete other side of Prospect Park. South Slope is near/borders Sunset Park which is even farther from Ditmas Park/Flatbush

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 1:13 PM

This would have been great if I was still working construction down at Brooklyn College.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 1:24 PM

The National are eating a secret lunch at Mimi's Hummus on Cortelyou Road right after the show at the Sycamore. They need their phytonutrients to get through this long day of shows.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 1:27 PM

so i got an email saying i was picked for a ticket + 1 for public assembly and they would be under my name.. but they never asked my name and all they have is my email address which is my boss' name.. any thoughts on how this will work.. i just tell them the email address?

Posted by a | May 21, 2013 3:16 PM

I have 2 tickets to the public assembly if anybody wants to trade for the Mercury Lounge show??

Posted by Amit Gupta | May 21, 2013 3:31 PM

amit- do u have physical tickets or email add/name on the list?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:34 PM

Strangely enough, my captcha code was "Hummus Platter".

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:35 PM

They only sent an email add/name on the list

Posted by Amit Gupta | May 21, 2013 3:37 PM

so how do you trade that?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:39 PM

I guess I would send you the email. I can call Public Assembly and see if that would work. You interested? You have tix to the Mercury Lounge show?

Posted by Amit Gupta | May 21, 2013 3:41 PM

You guys realize that all these shows are basically short little promo sets. They played 35 minutes at Sycamore and will probably play the same amount at both PA and Mercury. Mercury maybe an hour.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:42 PM

played 2 hours + at their free Park Ave Armory show last week!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:50 PM

"played 2 hours + at their free Park Ave Armory show last week!"

1h45min tops; i was there. great show, though.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:55 PM

y'all realize that anyone can go to Public Assembly and say they're Amit Gupta right now and take his/your spot. They aren't gonna check against IDs.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 3:56 PM

i'll trade Amit. what's your email add?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 4:00 PM

agupta1@hotmail.com

By the way, that's not the email I won the tickets with, but if you email me than I'll give you the other email. Thanks

Posted by Amit Gupta | May 21, 2013 4:05 PM

Sneaky. Very sneaky!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2013 4:07 PM

or the indian cricketer?

Posted by just curious and bored | May 21, 2013 4:14 PM
