Cough at Bell House, May 2012 (more by Fred Pessaro)

The second annual Martyrdoom festival expands from one day to four this year, kicking off tomorrow (June 27) with a pre-festival show at Saint Vitus with Satanic Goat Ritual, Manticore, Krieg and Crypter (tickets). The next two days contain names like Morpheus Descends, a rare appearance from Bestial Mockery, Morbosidad, Cough, Crucifier, Hour of 13 and many more over two days at the Paper Box (on June 28 & 29). Set times for both days are available below, and tickets are still on sale.

The weekend wraps up with yet ANOTHER show as part of the festival, June 30 at Acheron featuring Rawhide, Churchburn, Pact and Bastard Sapling. Tickets are also still available. Get out and support the fest!

You can also attend the whole magilla for free as we're giving away a pair of tickets that gets you in to everything. Contest details, plus the full Martyrdoom schedule and audio of the performing bands, are below.

I get a little chuckle out of these outrageous band names. "Bastard Sapling"? Are you serious? I lovvvvve it!

@4:25 I love the metal and part of it is because it's fucking outrageous, over the top and flat-out ridiculous at times. However, of all the band names up there to ridicule you pick that one? That's a great name. You could've gone with Shitfucker, Bestial Mockery, Decrepitaph, Demonic Christ, etc. etc. You get the picture.

5:12 --- no darling, I was in no way ridiculing Bastard Sapling. I said I love it! It's adorable.

Last year's fest was great but trying to expand to 4 days in one year is absolutely absurd. 2 days would have made sense. There's really only enough non-filler in the lineup for two decent days.

Hey 2:16 (am! Ha. Says it all). I'm 5:12. Ever kissed a girl? Didn't think so. Your projection from the basement is pathetic. Grow up. And if you don't like the music why even click? Right. It's because you've never kissed a girl.

I work down on Houston and Broadway and live in Astoria. Care to meet up so I can beat the living shit out of you? Didn't think so. Pussy. Btw, I'm the metalhead in the suit. You'll never recognize me.

You should see them live if you get a chance. The power they generate live is absolutely crushing.

There's plenty of other death metal I'd recommend but later Death is good entry level stuff to ease you into music with harsh vocals.
