Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Avey Tare’s Slasher Flick, Co La @ Glasslands
Animal Collective were just in NYC to play Governors Ball, and then they made their way over to Tennessee for Bonnaroo. Now, AnCo member Avey Tare is back in NYC with his new trio, Avey Tare’s Slasher Flick — including him, Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projectors) and Jeremy Hyman (Ponytail, Boredoms, Dan Deacon) — for a show at Glasslands tonight. The show has been sold out for a while but Glasslands just released a few tickets. Support on tonight’s show comes from Co La, who also has other upcoming NYC shows.

The Jazz Butcher, Sapphire Mansions, Paul Wallfisch @ Cake Shop
Over for the Northside Festival, The Jazz Butcher (with essential foil/guitarist Max Eider in tow) is sticking around for a second NYC show tonight at Cake Shop. Expect jazzy solos, entertaining anecdotes and songs about drinking. Get there early from promising new locals Sapphire Mansions who not only got their name from a Felt song, but a bit of their sound as well.

CHVRCHES, Still Corners @ Webster Hall
Having just revealed details of their debut album, the rapidly rising Scottish synthpop trio hit NYC for their first of two sold-out shows. Are they ready for a room that big? Do check out tourmates Still Corners, whose new album Strange Pleasures is superior danceable dreampop.

Valient Thorr, Gypsyhawk, Ramming Speed @ The Studio at Webster Hall
North Carolina metalheads Valient Thorr, whose latest release, Our Own Masters comes out this week, bring their tour with Gypsyhawk and Ramming Speed to The Studio for their first of two NYC shows tonight. Tomorrow they’ll hit Saint Vitus.

Joan Baez, Indigo Girls @ Central Park (Summerstage)
60s folk legend Joan Baez will be in Central Park tonight as part of Summerstage. After 25 studio albums, the 72 year old singer-songwriter is still going strong. Indigo Girls open the show.

Sky Ferreira @ Maxwell’s
Sky Ferreira‘s next NYC show is going to be a big one, opening for Vampire Weekend at Barclays Center with Solange (who just played Northside), but she’ll be in the area for a much smaller headlining show at Maxwell’s tonight. It’s one of the venue’s last shows.

Vulture Shit, Les Bonhommes, Beasty, Atrina @ Cameo
Brooklyn guitar-less punks Vulture Shit just played a hometown show at Ran Tea House on Friday (6/14), and you can catch them locally again tonight at Cameo with a lineup of Les Bonhommes, Beasty, and Atrina.

Dan Croll was supposed to play Mercury Lounge tonight, but unfortunately, his whole June US tour has been cancelled “due to conditions beyond [their] control.” But what will be happening at Mercury Lounge tonight is…

PAPA, Cable @ Mercury Lounge
Girls-related project PAPA, who played Glasslands last night (6/16), are playing their second NYC show of the week tonight at Mercury Lounge.

There’s not nearly as much going on in NYC tonight as the past few nights, now that the music portion of the Northside Festival is over, so it could be a good night to do something like check out Park Slope performance space Barbes, which hosts Chicha Libre and The Brain Cloud every Monday.

There’s also some good weekly comedy tonight, like Wyatt Cenac’s Night Train at Littlefield, Broken Comedy w/ Hannibal Buress & more at Matchless, and Whiplash at UCB.
