What's going on Monday? (Cheap Time, Dawes, Wale, FaltyDL, When Saints Go Machine, Saintseneca & more)

Cheap Time at Chaos in Tejas in 2011 (more by Harriet Roberts)
Cheap Time

Browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows. Here are some highlights…

Cheap Time, Shockwave Riderz, Vim Dicta @ Pianos
While it’s a night off from their tour with Social Distortion, there’s no rest from Nashville’s glammy, furious Cheap Time who headline tonight at Pianos. We’re also curious to check out Shockwave Riderz which features a few members from Modey Lemon and whose new EP is worth checking out.

When Saints Go Machine, Rush Midnight, Rumors @ Glasslands
Soulful, dance-oriented Danish act When Saints Go Machine make their U.S. debut tonight. Two ’80s-inflected openers — Rush Midnight and Rumors — round out the bill. Tickets are still available.

Dawes @ Housing Works Bookstore Cafe
Dawes brought their tour through NYC for a big show at Terminal 5 on Saturday (6/22) and they’re hanging around for something much more intimate: an acoustic show at Housing Works Bookstore Cafe tonight. Support comes from Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion. Sold out. They’ll be back in the area later this summer for a Capitol Theatre show (7/24) with Shovels & Rope (tickets).

FaltyDL (DJ), DJ DRM @ Le Bain
NYC’s UK-garage-inspired producer FaltyDL was pretty busy last month with his tour with James Blake and his participation in the Red Bull Music Academy residency, and now that he’s had some time off, he’ll be DJing a ‘Giant Step’ party in his hometown at Le Bain tonight.

Phantom Family Halo, Invisible Things, Chris Grier & GIbby Haynes, Diamond Terrifier, Martin Bisi @ The Bowery Electric
The Bowery Electric is hosting a pretty solid, diverse lineup tonight with psychedelic indie rockers Phantom Family Halo, US Maple/Parts & Labor-related band Invisible Things, the acoustic duo of Chris Grier (To Live & Shave in LA) and Chris Haynes (Butthole Surfers), experimental saxist Diamond Terrifier, and no wave pioneer Martin Bisi. $8 gets you in at the door.

Lefto, Francois K (Deep Space) @ Cielo
Francois K’s weekly Monday night dance party Deep Space goes down again tonight at Cielo with a set from Lefto. Free admission and complimentary vodka cocktails until 11 PM.

Saintseneca, Jeff Rosenstock, Archipelago @ Death by Audio
Death by Audio’s got a mostly folk/pop-punk bill tonight with Saintseneca, Jeff Rosenstock (of Bomb the Music Industry), and Archipelago. $7 at the door.

Wale @ Best Buy Theater
Wale is releasing his new album, The Gifted, this week (6/25), and to celebrate, he’ll play a NYC release show at Best Buy Theater tonight. Souls of Liberty open and tickets are still available.

Unfortunately, Yasiin Bey‘s (fka Mos Def) free Summerstage show that would have happened tonight has been cancelled. There will no replacement act, the venue will be closed.

There’s some good comedy tonight too like Wyatt Cenac’s Night Train at Littlefield, Broken Comedy w/ Hannibal Buress & more at Matchless, Mike Birbligia at Union Hall, Whiplash at UCB, and more
