Fiest in the rain / casualty of storm / making the best of it @ Governors Ball on Friday

Casualty
Governor's Ball

Yesterday's unrelenting rain made for a cold, soggy start to Governors Ball. Feist gave up after one song, saying "I think they think we're going to get electrocuted." Festival organizers then pulled the plug on the night:

Due to the high winds and unsafe stage conditions, Governors Ball has been suspended Friday night. The Current wind speeds have made it a safety issue to operate the stages. While Governors Ball and the acts would like for nothing more than the show to go on, the safety of our patrons, performers, and staff must always come first. Governors Ball will continue as scheduled Saturday morning. We anticipate gates to open on schedule. We are looking forward to great music and good times for the rest of the weekend.
Good news for fans of Friday night headliners King of Leon, the band will play the main stage today at 6:45 PM. Obviously this will affect some of the other band's set times and you can see the revised schedule for details. The weather's a whole lot nicer today, but those mudpits probably won't be going anywhere. Look for a full recap and pictures of waterlogged Friday soon.

UPDATE: Pictures of Friday are posted HERE and HERE.

In other news, Kings of Leon just announced their new album, Mechanical Bull, will be out September 24.

WHO REMEMBERS ALL POINTS WEST

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2013 1:20 PM

It'll be overcrowded and it'll suck! Fuck this festival run by bunch of 20 year old fucks!

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2013 1:24 PM

young the giant had semi-protection from the rain, the way their stage was facing. the main stage, where feist was, was facing directly into the rain/wind. there was a large difference.

You're all a bunch of whinging fags. Glastonbury's never been cancelled due to weather in 50 years.

All Points West was a disaster, but I still had fun.

that pic doesn't look at all like feist, unless she put on 50 lbs and got a lower jaw bone implant.

Hah awesome daft punk joke, man!

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2013 5:27 PM

5:27 Daft Punk is actually rumored to guest with Kanye West at Governor's Ball on Sunday, so maybe not a joke. I doubt it will happen though, as they are always rumored to guest at every show.

Kings of Leon rock so hard, it's difficult to believe they're all gay.

APW was a fucking blast. Period.

Thomas Bangalter was seen arriving at JFK terminal 7 today. It was all over twitter. So maybe daft punk will make an appearance.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2013 9:30 PM

@9:30 daft punk have already been reported as being in ny this week, not just arriving at jfk today. try harder.

"No comment on Young The Giant toughin' it out and playing their entire set while Feist pooped out? Pshhhhh"

Didn't they even cut their set short? I believe they were supposed to play until 8 but I thought I overheard them closing with "My Body" at 7:25

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2013 10:45 PM

7:36 if having half the day cancelled due to rain when the ticket said "rain or shine" is a "blast" to you then yes I agree

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2013 2:13 AM

not to add to the rumors, but daft punk have been in nyc since tuesday. they did a vogue shoot during the week, and did a BPM set at the sirius xm studios on friday night. so they are definitely in town.

that being said, their presence means nothing re: performance >> "According to Rolling Stone, the members of Daft Punk were at Coachella with Pharrell Williams and watched the fans wild reactions from the side of the main stage"

Why am I crying when she's so happy? This was more beautiful than I was prepared for.

I have never seen the video until now. Everytime I hear this song, I imagine a 40s/50s pin up girl. I don't know why, but it sounds beautifully old. Great job Feist! This is song is gold.
