Australia's Cosmic Psychos touring around Goner Fest, screening new documentary too (dates)

Cosmic Psychos

They remind me more of like late-’70s punk rock, playing on a stereo inside a muffler be dragged down the freeway. That’s what they sound like.

Buzz Osborne (Melvins)

Famously beer-loving Australian punks Cosmic Psychos made music for the fun of it, not the money, which is probably why they’re still together after 30 years. The group’s fast-n-sludgy early records, released on Amphetamine Reptile and Sub Pop, proved hugely influential to the Seattle grunge scene, and songs like “David Lee Roth,” “Dead Roo” and “Lost Cause” (which was covered by L7) still sound pretty great. The band’s story is chronicled in a new documentary, Blokes You Can Trust, which comes out August 8 in Australia. Film trailer below.

As mentioned, Cosmic Psychos are coming to North America for Goner Fest (September 26 – 29) and will be playing other cities while here. That includes NYC with two nights at Cake Shop on September 20 & 21. Some of the cities will also host screenings of Blokes You Can Trust as well. No word on an NYC screening yet, but all known tour dates are listed, with a couple videos, below.
