Deafheaven

Deafheaven's second NYC show this week with Marriages , scheduled for July 4 at 285 Kent, has added more for your patriotic, loud entertainment dollar. In addition to a DJ sets from Shaun of Weekend and Jenn Pelly (turns out she can't make it), the show will also feature performances from Montreal dark ambient crew AUN and Brooklyn industrial-noise gang Theologian. Tickets are still available for this InvisibleOranges sponsored show and doors are at 10PM.

This is in addition to their original, now sold-out NYC date at Saint Vitus on Tuesday (7/2) which features support from Nothing.

Are any of these openers worth checking out? I'm talking about Nothing, Aun, and Theologian...

"Jenn Pelly (turns out she can't make it)"

not going now! where would we be without our most esteemed tastemakers?

Nothing are a terrible Philly band.

sorry but this show should be moved somewhere else...the sound here blows. I get that its a "punk" venue but sorry the sound sucks.

I think I will be watching the fireworks on TV while blasting Sarcofago

does the guitarist from Deafheaven still look like an ugly highschooler? What's with the rat tail haircut?

the sound sucks more at saint vitus than at 285 kent

Ah yes, "black metal" for the Urban Outfitters kids in Illinois. Neat.

Rad poster.

Couldn't disagree more. 285 kent sounds like a band playing in a tin can. Vitus has damn good sound. Easy comparison is Torche playing at Vitus and Torche playing 285, much better at Vitus.

Whatever it sounds like it's better than indie rock

"the sound"

Marriages is, by far, the best band on this lineup! Not sure how Deafheaven will follow them.

Honestly, I think she may say that... I'm still stuck on that part. As for making sense, it could be a Biblical reference to that lonely little town turned to pillars of salt. Not sure. It could also have a more esoteric meaning considering that "salt" is an acronym for "last." It may very well be "I lay back in salt." Either way it's depressing as hell!!! So damned beautiful!!!
