Jay Z and Justin Timberlake @ Yankee Stadium - 7/19/2013
Jay Z and Justin Timberlake @ Yankee Stadium - 7/19/2013

"Three years ago, Jay Z performed at Yankee Stadium's first concert, bringing out Kanye West, Beyonce, Eminem, Drake, Coldplay's Chris Martin and Swizz Beatz. [Friday night], the focus is on Jay and Justin Timberlake, with only Alicia Keys appearing for "Empire State of Mind" and Timbaland showing up for "SexyBack." Before "Empire," Timberlake breaks into Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York," and while not the rousing, stadium-wide singalong the duo might have intended it to be, it signaled Jay's umpteenth attempt to remind you that he is the new Sinatra. Or something. While Kanye's output in the past decade has been hip hop's most intriguing and innovative, tonight's show proved that Jay's King of the Universe title remains unchallenged." [Fuse]
Justin Timberlake and Jay Z (not Jay-Z) played their first of two shows at Yankee Stadium on Friday night (7/19). They do it again tonight/Saturday (7/20).

Pictures and the setlist from Friday are in this post. It all continues below...

Looks like a really good chance to spend a lot of money and watch ants from a quarter of a mile away. But to each their own I guess.

If it wasn't for stupidity these two morons would be broke. Thankfully for them the masses are morons.

Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2013 6:30 PM

Morons always think they are clever and others are morons.

"Jay Z (not Jay-Z)"

Quit it with this, we saw it - we don't care about the hyphen.

I have seen arcade fire and the national at mercury lounge and I thought this show was amazing. Snobs.

Posted by LKG | July 20, 2013 8:26 PM

On field at Yankee Stadium last night. Ok show. We got comp seats from some pr company. There were dozens of portable toilets directly next to the stage. Like 20 feet away from people that paid $350 per seat were plastic outhouses flowing of smelly shit.

Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2013 10:00 PM

"plastic outhouses flowing of smelly shit."

What other kind of shit is there?

you know when Justin was rubbing Lou Perlman's shoulders after a long day 15 years ago....who woulda thunk one day he would become so "indie"?

Man, I truly hate the state of music and all things hipster douchebag journalism

Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2013 11:53 PM

Best concert ever!

Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2013 11:53 PM

I'd like to see a film of this show.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 2:10 AM

Why cover this show here? Brooklyn vegan is almost as good as rolling stone now.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 6:05 AM

Alicia keys should always be hiding behind a piano...

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 6:09 AM

Jay-Z is getting fat.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 8:02 AM

8:02: he isnt fat, thats his bulletproof west

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 8:37 AM

10:50-where's the talent here? all i see are two businessmen trying to be entertainers. fuck 'em all...

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 11:08 AM

The business is cool not music. This is total shit musically. Jay Z has always been shit musically hence he appeals to a shitload of people. Of course he goes to some indie style show and all the indie blogs get all excited about it and start sucking his balls. Whatever.

I love that Jay Z continues to rap as if his succes is inconvinient to the elite when all the while he is very happy to have joined the elites a long time ago. Check out his stand during occupy movement. He is clueless.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 11:26 AM

"I have seen arcade fire and the national at mercury lounge and I thought this show was amazing. Snobs."

you pretty much set yourself up in your first sentence. liking 21st century yacht rock does not make you edgy....

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 11:54 AM

11:54, the person set themselves up way before that just by saying this show was amazing. Anyone who would say that is basically putting a sign on himself saying "I am a moron, please punch me in the face"

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 12:34 PM

Hey if you don't like JT or Jay Z then why are you here? Fans of music should not hate on other music. If I dig the Mona Lisa I'm not gonna crap on people who like Starry Night. If I drink Frappachinos at Starbucks should I laugh at people who prefer coffee at home? What is WRONG with everyone? People have different tastes if everyone liked the same thing we would cease to be a population there would be no more humans. Everyone on here is completely ridiculous. Do you guys honestly think your hipster cornball opinion of JT makes us any less of fans? I saw him 8 times and each time he got better. Signed -Fan of 14 years and counting. God bless.

Is that Timbaland in blue & white with JT in those photos? Homeboy looks like one of the Fat Boys now.

Also, this pic is hilarious:

pretty much as lame as you can get.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 6:04 PM

"Do you guys honestly think your hipster cornball opinion of JT makes us any less of fans?"

Probably not but then again you liking JT and seeing him 8 fucking times already quite clearly shows you have no idea how pathetic you actually are. You are basically a human punching bag. You deserve every bit of ridicule that comes your way.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 6:19 PM

who has fatter thighs, timbaland or alicia keys?

JT/ Jay Z, music for douche nozzles.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 8:47 PM

if only they had Jay Z's wife, his protoge and Daft PUnk on this show. one well aimed missile and all would be right with the world

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 8:52 PM

"I'm a clueless moron who worships at the altar of celebrity and invisible sky people. God bless"

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 8:55 PM

Jay-Z is eating the same stuff as George Zimmerman. Both are now fat. And both pretend to like black people to get ahead in life.

Posted by Anonymous | July 21, 2013 8:57 PM

I think his next marketing move should be to change the pronunciation from [Jay Zee] to [Jay Zed], you know sounds more European. You're welcome Jay Zed.

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2013 3:27 PM

"I'd like to see a film of this show."

^ AGREED! YouTube videos just don't cut it... I went to both shows. The first one had Alicia Keys, but #2 had the best crowd. The energy was amazing!

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2013 6:54 PM

take your jesus shit back to florida where it belongs.

Posted by e3lanat | July 24, 2013 7:02 AM

of course they have to have a guitar player out there 'shredding" with his long hair flying in the "wind". surprised it wasn't Slash. What a pantload of shit

Those outfits. Who is dressing these guys? They know that people can see them, right? Also- you really don't need to add the word 'song' to the parenthetical setlist credits. It's a setlist. We know they are songs.

Posted by Leon Wannamaker | August 12, 2013 2:16 PM

amusing to note that i cant see even ONE black hand in the crowd.

Posted by Anonymous | August 14, 2013 8:35 PM

Even though this is Jay Z's song I think that it was ruined with the his parts and should of all been done by Justin Timberlake but that's just my opinion.
