UPDATE: Texas is the Reason confirm 'MX' is in the works...
UPDATE 2: Texas is the Reason confirm Maxwell's show!

Texas is the Reason, 2012 reunion (more by Toby Tenenbaum)
Texas is the Reason

Texas is the Reason reunited again in 2012 for Revelation Records' 25th anniversary and played shows at Irving Plaza, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Saint Vitus in NYC in addition to some touring. In May they announced "The Grand Finale", an eight-date European tour that runs from 7/26 - 8/4. After that, they say, they're done again. Assuming they're telling the truth, that gives them about a week between when I'm writing this and when they leave for Europe to make a last minute announcement and do it one more time for NYC.

UPDATE 2: Texas is the Reason confirm Maxwell's show!

In possibly related news, Hoboken club Maxwell's, where Texas is the Reason played multiple times in the 90s, is sadly closing for good at the end of the month, but have been going out strong with shows by Titus Andronicus, Yo La Tengo, and many more. This weekend, the shows continue with two sold out shows on Sunday (7/21): Screaming Females & Nuclear Santa Claust (early) and Ted Leo & Shellshag (late). The Bongos will play the final show there, though details are scarce. There's also a farewell block party.

Apathy is the reason I won't be going to this.

pretty sure this covers the answer and I got the first question in the video.

i can make trolly comments, but never felt it was worth it to just say a band sucks. but this band just totally sucks.

Anyone who claims to love this band should be sterilized.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2013 7:53 PM

Anyone who actually just likes this band, thinks they're ok, or thinks they have a good song or a couple should be sterilized.

This band, Quicksand, and Into Another need to get lost. Three bands whose ships sailed loooong ago.

Whether or not their ship sailed long ago is arguable, however what isn't is that D's lifeboat is full of holes.

12:45 writes like he didn't finish county, might of grown up in Queens and still lives in his Uncle Dom's basement.

final shows... for now

1:28am For me to counter your bullshit would mean I'm admitting I'm in a lifeboat after abandoning a sinking ship. I'm on a ship that's sailing quite nicely thank you.

You and these early-mid '90s post-hardcore NY bands (Into Another, Quicksand, and Texas Is The Reason), however, are on a sinking ship and won't admit it's time to throw the lifeboats in the water then jump in them and sail away to a place called A LIFE and DOING SOMETHING NEW not something old and familiar cuz you're afraid to cuz you're afraid it won't sell.

How is it "arguable" that these bands' ships sailed long ago? They all broke up in the mid-90s (Into Another and Quicksand) and late '90s (Texas Is The Reason) with a whimper - they didn't even play official last shows ever in NYC or anywhere else. None of them made it commercially outside of signing to major labelsand whoopdedoo they got signed to majors then. Orange 9mm got signed to a major on maybe two songs off their debut ep (another band whose best work was their debut.) O9mm has the good sense to not come back and do the 1000-1500 capacity club circuit or in IA's case play NYC three times inside of a year and think they're gonna be well received doing that when they're played out now.

7:37pm You sound asshurt. 'Never did jail time, grow up in Queens, or live in any relative's basement, but thanks for your tired-ass comebacks.

6:51pm Tell me about it.

Watch these overrated jerkoffs play NYC one more time to open for My Bloody Valentine or some shit.

"We just couldn't pass up the opportunity" blah blah blah get lost.

"Final shows" = The now common ploy to get x amount more people to your shows to make up for the y less people attending shows you'll play 2-5 years later.

7:03 0range 9mm will be reuniting for the BNB 2014.

What a bunch of miserable fucks you people are. Go kill yourselves already.

This one and Back and to the left are just amazing. 10 years ago I was a very angry hardcore scenester but always liked these guys. It sounds even better now, 10 years later.
